Meet LaDiamond Robinson of Almasi Apparel in Oak Cliff

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaDiamond Robinson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us LaDiamond. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had an eye for fashion but once I became a senior at David W. Carter high-school, my hot glue gun and I became best friends. I designed and constructed all of my homecoming and senior week outfits back in 2016-2017 with only a vision and a hot glue gun. Once I became a freshman at Texas A&M University, I decided to amp things up and teach myself how to sew that way, my clothes wouldn’t fall apart after I wore it once. Towards the ending of my sophomore in college, I decided to start not only making custom apparel for myself but also for my friends. Which leads us to now, quarantined happened, and I decided to get out my own head and create and design for everyone.

Has it been a smooth road?
This is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done in my life, being that it takes a lot of courage and confidence to sell something you’ve worked so hard on. I’m still working on courage and confidence at this very moment. Another thing is being self-taught, I have to constantly work on my craft in order to get better and be able to keep up with trends and set them. Lastly, remembering that I’m human and not a robot, sometimes I get so caught up in working and building my brand that I forget to do the most important things like socializing with loved ones, eat, sleep, etc.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Almasi Apparel – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Almasi Apparel came out of nowhere. One day I decided to record myself, making our infamous denim set and post it on Instagram. The love I received from that video was overwhelming. I had so many people asking could they buy it and was it for sell and I told everyone no. Until I had a conversation with my mama. She told me to go for it and see what happen, and I just took off from there. I decided to make other pieces to sell. I’ve sold about 100 of those since May 3rd, 2020 and I’ve added so much more to the Almasi Apparel Custom Collection.

Almasi Specializes in denim but I’ve branches out numerous times to show people that I’m not a one-trick pony. I’m most proud that Almasi Apparel has made a name for itself and that I’m still pushing and wanting to get better. I know a lot of people who would’ve been stopped due to adversity and challenges? But I just feel that apart of it. The thing that sets Almasi Apparel apart from others is my customer service, I treat every client like I’ve known them my whole life, that’s what show them you’re human and you love what you do.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Dallas, TX. The best part of it is just being from here. When you’re from this city and you begin to win and people see you wanting to make a name for yourself, they go all out for you, support you, and show you, unconditional love. The thing I like least about this city is the total opposite of why I love it. When someone doesn’t wanna see you win, or jealousy drives them insane, they’ll do anything to bring you to their level.
