Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Mcneely.
Stefanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Moon Rivers was started when I had a little one year old. I was a stay at home mom, my husband worked late hours and I wanted to contribute financially (haha) to our family. I also am a very creative person so I wanted to do something that allowed me to explore that. I dabbled a little in soap making in college. Stephen kept encouraging me to start that again. Eventually, after making him some beard oils and playing around in the kitchen, I decided to “launch” Moon Rivers at a little music festival held at a local restaurant. We sold out and the fire was lit. I fell in love with everything I experienced. The feeling of selling my product, running a business, creating a product. I loved it all and I wanted more.
Fast forward six years we’ve gotten deals with urban outfitters, free people, Nordstrom’s, Madewell, Riley rose, earthbound trading, and 400-500 more national retail stores that have a true passion behind their stores. We have been faced with dozens of challenges and successes that we have fought through and survived. Without our team, family, and God, none of this would be possible. Everyday I wake up thankful for my crew that is here for noon rivers, my husband, who is my number one supporter, and God for giving us challenges that have made us a stronger company.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Haha, heck no. So bumpy. Ups and downs constantly. I guess that’s the beauty of having a small business. I mean, 2020 has been a joke in its self. We’re just working on surviving this mess and then hopefully 2021, we’ll be able to look back and say wow, we’re happy we made it through 2020. Let’s move forward now.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Moon Rivers Naturals – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Moon Rivers has always been a body care company. We make soaps, washes, body scrubs, bath soaks. We have recently evolved our brand to start incorporating facial care. Night creams, day creams, enzyme masks, etc. I’m super proud of our newest products, nightcap and moonshine. I worked on those recipes for a couple of years and really loved them. They are simple yet effective and I’m so happy. What sets us apart from others? The culture of our company seeps into our packaging and our products. They are clever, effective, and fun.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plan for 2020 is let’s survive! We don’t know what every day holds right now and it’s very unpredictable. We have a bunch of plans but the timeline is a little blurry.
