Meet Dr. Naila Malik MD of Southlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Naila Malik MD.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I knew I wanted to grow up to be a physician since the age of 5 years. I went to medical school in Pakistan, did my first residency training in Family medicine in Columbus OH at an OSU affiliated program, I did my second residency in anesthesiology at Tampa General Hospital, a USF affiliate program. I worked as an Emergency Room Physician for a while. I have a touch of ADD, I get bored easily. All my life I have been looking for something that gives my intellectual curiosity a constant challenge and satisfaction. I have been practicing cosmetic medicine and antiaging medicine since 2004 and I can honestly say that finally, I have found my métier.

I absolutely LOVE what I do and fortunately, at this stage of my career, I can pick and choose to do ONLY what I absolutely LOVE.

Over the recent years, there is a big shift from traditional cosmetic surgery to non-surgical cosmetic treatments; the trend started in Europe and has made its way into the US. My husband is British, I have spent and continue to spend a lot of time in Europe. I love the European non-surgical cosmetic treatment approach and I train incessantly. With so many new advancements and continuous training, it never gets boring. I participate in an average of 10-12 medical training seminars per year and it’s FABULOUS!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is great but not exactly a smooth road! My husband is a cardiologist, (now turned attorney) and we have three children. With his cardiology practice hours, I was practically a single working Mum. We have moved all across the US before settling in DFW area 18 years ago. I have had to balance career with raising a family. My son drowned at the age of 16 months and was in a coma for 18 hours, it was the worse situation that any human being can go through. I am very grateful that he is completely recovered and I appreciate every moment with my kids. I took a break from my career for a few years to be with my kids full time. It was challenging to get back in the workforce and there are challenges in cosmetic medicine like any other business but it’s all good at the end.

Naila Malik MD PA – what should we know about your practice?
In a nutshell, our practice offers out of the box, results-driven solutions to the common cosmetic problems and safe, physiological bioidentical hormone optimization for age management and to complement our cosmetic treatments.

We are most known for PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for skin, hair and sexual function enhancement, probably because I am among the first few physicians in DFW to offer these services for hair loss, for melasma, acne scars, stretch marks, anti-aging etc.

We get patients from all over the US and abroad for ACell + PRP hair loss therapy and I get requests from other physicians from all over the USfor PRP training.

We are proud to be at the forefront of the latest European non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as NovaThread non-surgical facelift, Lipodissolve non-surgical body contouring and spot fat reduction etc.

What makes us different is the individual attention we give to each patient’s concerns and wants, having a “less is more” approach to all cosmetic treatments for natural looking results. Our patients love our “NO unnecessary upsell” policy.

We are proud of our staff and or accomplishments as a team. I have been featured in many national publications and awarded the FGI Rising Star 2015 and  Fashion Stars for A Cause 2015 in Dallas.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?

The day I was informed that I had been chosen to be an FGI Rising Star award nominee which was within days of being selected a Fashion Star for a Cause, I was on cloud nine that week!

Honestly, every time a patient compliments us, it makes me very proud 🙂
