Priyanka, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hi, I’m Priyanka Shah, the founder of Penikam Films: A video production company that focuses on growth and creativity. Ever since I remember, I always had a camera in my hand. I was first interested in the environment, psychology, and zoology realm until I came across my mentors who shared the same value in the film community. Dare I say, I’m in love with my career. I value the beauty and honesty of filmmaking. I strive to use my passion for the arts to collaborate with local businesses, artists, and filmmakers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Everyone in business knows the first few years are the hardest, but I feel motivated knowing that I am surrounded by talented artists in the Dallas Area. I’m happy to be part of a community that supports each other. Media Arts is not a career people choose to make the big bucks. You have to be a little crazy and very tenacious.
Penikam Films – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Penikam Films, LLC is a video production company. I am primarily a director, producer, and marketer, but I rarely work alone. To make something grand, it takes a village. As a startup, I’m proud of the success of our recent projects and talented team. Our focus is to help others project their values, art, and services. What sets us apart from others is we aim to make the cinematic touch accessible. We are filmmakers that transitioned from storytelling to commercial.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Not to go full psychoanalytical, but Maslow’s Theory of Happiness has always defined success to me. First, we need security and strong relationships, we have to establish our values, then we need to challenge ourselves and feel accomplished. Only with these factors fulfilled we can reach self-actualization, being creatively and financially content. If I can connect to others and be the truest version of myself, I’m heading the right direction.
