Rising Stars: Meet Berblan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Berblan Berblan.

Hi Berblan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I remember developing a deep appreciation for influential composers like Beethoven and Mozart at a young age. When I was four years old, my parents signed me up for a musical appreciation summer camp so I could further explore this interest. At camp, I became exposed to many facets of classical music and developed a better understanding of famous pieces. As I grew older, I began to refine my music tastes and wanted to play some of my favorite songs on an instrument. So, I started learning piano at age eight. Within a few months, I decided to pick up the violin as well. After I achieved a solid understanding of my way around these instruments, I realized that I would like to be able to sing over my playing and began taking vocal lessons. It was then that I felt a spark ignite throughout my entire being. I wrote my first song three years ago and finally in December of 2020, I released my debut single, “Godly Christmas.” Since then, I have released two more singles and look forward to showing off more music in the near future.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were times when I felt unmotivated and overwhelmed with pressure to continually improve my musicianship. Yet, the feeling I get when I achieve a musical breakthrough encourages me to keep doing what I love every day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a musician who plays several instruments, including violin, piano, and ukulele, in addition to singing. I am known for being a multi-talented powerhouse, dedicating significant time and energy to multiple types of fine arts. I think what sets me apart from other people my age is that I am willing to prioritize my career over engaging in the usual pastimes of a teenager. I know that in order to be successful, I have to work hard and maintain discipline. Commitment is crucial for any musician who wants to thrive in this exceedingly competitive industry. For this reason, I want to encourage others to find their path and stick to it.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
While nobody really knows the future outcome of the music industry, I believe that rising social media platforms will have a big influence on its evolution. One likely change that I see is new doors opening for an independent artist. I think resources that were previously reserved for signed artists will become increasingly available for independent artists like me.
