Daily Inspiration: Meet Kendra Moran

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Moran.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello my name is Kendra Moran Owner and Certified Wedding Planner of Kendra’s Events based out of Granbury Texas.

Ever since I was young I wanted to have a job that I was passionate about and absolutely loved doing “ isn’t that every ones dream? YES!” The love and passion I have for planning, designing, budgeting, organizing and being around such joyful moments inspired me so much that when I was 16 years old, I started working in the wedding and event industry. I loved it so much I decided to open my own wedding planning and design company in the spring of 2004. In just a few years my company grew to an amazing team of 7 planners and designers. We were planning an average of 100+ weddings a year. Rising to be one of the top 5 wedding planning companies in San Antonio for nearly ten years.

Though business was going great, I felt something wasn’t quite right something was missing. I was empty and depressed. I would burry myself in all the wedding planning just to escape the emptiness to a place where I felt valued, excepted and appreciated. Everything in my personal life had been falling apart for as long as I could remember from relationships with my parents, siblings and then my marriage. After many years of being in an abusive relationship and growing up in dysfunctional home I found myself hitting rock bottom. I was told “I was worthless and would never make in in life without them .” There was nothing I could ever say or ever do that would be good enough for either of them. The love they had for me was conditional.

After leaving my ex-husband when he stepped out of the marriage, I turned my life over to the Lord. God rescued me and my kids and placed us in a place where we were valued, loved by many people who cared and loved us unconditionally. River City Community Church in San Antonio, Texas was our new home and safe place no matter what mountain I faced or had to climb I had a church family who would help encourage me and guide me through the the journey and healing process.

When I was asked to come on staff and start a special events & foodservice ministry. I was in disbelief thinking “I can’t do that I’m not good enough.” With the support and encouragement of the church body in just a few years, I had built a ministry from nothing to what it is today, serving hundreds and often times thousands of people for missions, camps, weddings, concerts, festivals and so much more. God showed me “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I am worthy! And that all I need is Him.

The Spring of 2019, God called me to move back to Granbury my “hometown.“ to care for my parents who where not doing well. I’m not going to lie I did not want to move back home. Especially since I finally found a good happy place and I was comfortable and things were going great in my life!!! Well… when the Lord calls you to go and do something you have to go. So I did. Just before moving back home God brought a man into my life who is now my husband he loves and cares for me unconditionally and always points me to Jesus and I thank God for him everyday because things did not go well with my family. With a strong loving christian husband by my side patiently loving me through a difficult time of processing all the negative rooted feelings I had tucked deep down for many years I made it through and now stronger than ever.

In February 2020, We decided to open up my wedding planning business again, “Kendra’s Events.” Unfortunately, we were unable to plan weddings right away due to COVID-19. Even though we were facing a national pandemic God continued to provide in so many ways that just blew our minds! He connected us with an amazing church “Stonewater Granbury” and church family. He opened many doors of great opportunities to meet and really get to know an amazing group of wedding professionals in the industry. We couldn’t believe it but we planned double the events I thought we would in 2020.

We made the decision when we started Kendra’s Events it was for a purpose far greater than our own. This is not just our business it’s our ministry. Weddings as you know are such a joyful time but there are still people who may be hurt or have been hurt. With so many blended broken families today attending weddings I am able to help our bride’s and their groom’s defuse and redirect any uncomfortable situation caused by a family member or guest as I fully understand both sides. I have been blessed with so many other opportunities to love on and share my story of how faithful and just how good God is. God is a my redeemer and like Philippians 4:13 say’s “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” and Philippians 4:19 says “and this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A valuable lesson I have heard is to have patience! Often times I would put the cart in front of the horse thinking I had it all figured out and quickly realized I didn’t. The journey we are all on can be as smooth or bumpy as we make it. I have found being still and listening to what God is called me to do even when it doesn’t make sense it always works out for the better good. “His plans are always greater than our plans” So I encourage you all to be still and listen to Him.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am not just your wedding planner I am your friend and someone you can call family and always count on. I have been planning weddings for over 25 years and have seen it all. I am known for my calm demeanor while under pressure and my attention to the smallest of details. I LOVE everything about planning and creating organic floral designs using pieces of the great outdoors while delivering excellence. I’m always thinking ahead making sure every little detail is not overlooked. I call myself blessed to be able to share my gifts and talents with any bride in making her wedding day everything she dreamed it to be.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m not a risk taker usually, I tend to always go the safe route. When you are living your life for the Lord you will find yourself in some pretty risky situations. That is where faith steps in… God equips the called, He does not call the equipped. I choose to follow the Lord knowing He’s got me will guide my path all the days of my life.
