Rising Stars: Meet Kemarilyn Chanel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kemarilyn Chanel.

Hi Kemarilyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Kemarilyn Chanel an Artist, Model, Writer, Entrepreneur, Social Media Influencer, Self Taught Hair Slayer and a Child of God. All of the talents and hobbies didn’t just appear overnight. My first aspiration was to be America’s Next Top Model but God had bigger plans. This plan completely took over at the age of 16 in 2018 when I dropped my debut song “I’m Good Luv Enjoy” after dropping my first single, I fell in love with my sound and the idea of being this huge artist from Dallas, Texas. After realizing that music is my true passion in life, I jumped right in and have been swimming ever since.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No road is completely smooth and on this journey, I have learned that you have to just Try, Dream, and Live. I am an African American, I am a women and I make music those three facts are already a struggle but challenges and difficulties never stop me, only encourages me to continue. The most challenging thing during this journey has been changing my mindset. When you have the dream to be the Next Big Artist, Model, Entrepreneur, and Influencer you must have a strict mindset that only accept positivity, greatness, creativity and all things from God. So I have been practicing changing my mindset and jumping in front of my dream so that all can be conquered.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Independent Artist, I make R&B / Hip-Hop Music based on my true feelings and emotions. I love music and expressing myself in my music. What sets me and my art apart from the rest is the way it makes you feel. When writing my music I always feel something and I always want to channel that feeling in my music and pray that it translates to my listeners. Another thing that sets me apart from other people in this field is the talents that I have outside of being an artist, I am a Model but not just a model, I also do my own hair and not just my hair I also write and not just write I also rap and not just rap I also draw and the list just goes on and on. I have gained over 470,000+ followers on Tiktok expressing these talents.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The lessons I’ve learned from the Covid-19 Crisis is to appreciate life just the way it is. Before Covid I was at Texas Southern University working on obtaining my Bachelors in Business Marketing it was the week right before spring break and my main focus was extending my break, so I left The Thursday right before the Friday we were released for spring break and I always think about that, How I didn’t appreciate that moment of being at school, in a different city, around different people, being outside, just everything and what really hurt me the most was that I was trying to extend my spring break with two extra days and it was extended for 6+ months. Honestly that woke me up. Now I appreciate every moment because you never know when it can change.
