Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Garza.
Hi Christina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been one to do whatever I could for others, especially when it was something that would bring joy to their lives. In my mid-Twenties, I worked as an office manager for a processing plant during the day and nights for a Wal-Mart distribution center as a slotter. I eventually let go of my night time job to pursue my dream of nursing. Although it was always my chosen path, I still did not feel as though I had quite found my calling. I tried my hands with different types of work over the years until I began to find myself more and more into beauty services and products. I was fascinated at the beautiful transformations and how they changed a person’s smile. It’s as though I could literally feel their joy. That is when I began my journey to becoming an Aesthetician and working for myself.
I enrolled in the Aesthetic program at Ogle in 2016. By Aug. of 2017 I was proudly working for myself. I worked effortlessly to hit every shopping center and parking lot handing out flyers with opening prices and specials. I promoted myself and the business everywhere I went. Grocery stores, drive-thru. I even handed a business card to the officer who pulled me over for speeding LoL. I believe that what you put into yourself, others will value in you. I could not have chosen a more satisfying career. I am blessed to have such amazing clients. Most of whom have been with me since my very beginning. I was one of the oldest ladies in my Aesthetics program. At the age of 43, I found my true calling and I gave it everything I had. I began my career as a partner with my daughter at The Brow & Lash Co. Now I am the sole owner of La’Adore Beautique in Arlington TX. Offering Eyelash Extensions, facials, back treatments, fat cavitation and now offering custom fragrances in Perfume/Cologne sprays, homemade soaps and homemade lip balms. I am looking forward to adding more services very soon.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t an easy road. But the bumps I hit along the way were just reminders to go harder and never give up. We can all change our own course. We can either let the road beats us and steer us off course or we can grip the wheel with determination and head straight for where we want to be. Nobody will ever go as hard for you as YOU.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Eyelash Extensions. Although I offer other services, my lash clientele keeps my the busiest. That is what most know me for. I am most proud of the rewards that all my determination, have brought me. The countless bonds built with clients and the joy that my services bring to each one. I believe in a truthful and educative relationship with every single client. I give my absolute best to each and every one.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Social networking helps tremendously. When I am training others for their certifications, I always tell them to get involved in groups within the industry. Stay informed and updated on new techniques, products, etc. You will always be learning in this industry. My biggest piece of advice would be: if you sleep on yourself, the world will too. You cannot be motivated part-time and expect a full time flow into your business.
