Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Lewis.
Skylar, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business two years ago when I was five. I started selling lemonade and rice krispy treats in my neighborhood. Skylar’s Sweet Snacks really grew in 2020 when I put my lemonade in bottles and my treats in bags so we can have less contact with my customers because of COVID. I had a great summer selling lemonade and I even won a contest for Best Business lemonade stand and won a bike. My mommy signed me up and I sell my products at the local farmers market. I wanted to show other kids how much fun and inspire them to have their own business so I wrote a coloring and activity book about selling lemonade Skylar’s Sweet Idea you get it on Amazon. My dream is for my lemonade to be sold in stores one day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It had been a smooth road but sometimes we have slow-selling days but I always hope we do better next time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a seven-year-old CEO I have a big brother and little sister and my cousin who have all worked for me. I am proud of my business because I have great customers. I get to learn new things and meet new people all the time! I even met a parrot while working at the market one day. My Tati and mommy helped me make a website so I can sell my coloring book and merch online. My fresh-squeezed lemonade is so yummy and my customers love my homemade rice krispy treats that come in different flavors. I like to have my social media followers help me pick different flavors for the month to make things fun. I also like to post recipes and things about my business on my YouTube channel. Another big part of my business is giving back to others. Animal or human beings I love donating to shelters, I was able to do a coat drive and I donated coloring books to my school district because I like helping others.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
My important lesson I learned is to always to stay sweet. To always be nice to others and treat my customers like my friends. I call my customers my sweet friends and tell them to Have A Sweet Day, because I hope that my products can brighten peoples day.
