Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Campbell.
Hi Dominique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Dominique Campbell born and raised in Oakland CA. I have been playing the drums since I was three years old and I am now an artist with my debut single entitled Kenosis. I definitely would quantify my story of perseverance against all odds as one that would impact someone to keep going.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have likened my road to that of Lombard Street in San Francisco. It is an attraction that people love to take pictures in front but it’s literally Turning Point after Turning Point. Most roads are designed for Efficiency but it seems the road I was placed on was designed for effectiveness. I was accepted to Berkelee college of music right out of high school for playing drums. Only issue was I didn’t have the $60,000 a year to pay for a game-changing opportunity to graduate from the most prestigious music school in the country. After three attempts at applying for the scholarship over a year and a half period, I wasn’t able to go to Boston. I then went to expression college for Digital Arts in Emeryville, CA. Pursuing a degree in Sound Arts with hopes of working for Pixar or other Bay Area studios as a producer/engineer.
After two years of continuing my education there, I received the red card in my music theory class. The Card indicated that I needed to speak to my counselor which proceeded to explain that the I was in need of $6,000 by the following Monday to continue attending school. I never went back and finished school there but new there was more in store for me as long as I refused to give up. One thing I did realize though was that during my tenure, I had a class project where we had to shoot a short film between 7-10 mins. We ended up doing a film in the horror genre entitled “Francis De Luc” and we went from hiring the actors, to shooting the entire film, as well as post-production audio work and created a soundtrack. Fast forward to the pandemic afforded me the opportunity to go after a lifelong dream of mine to be a film producer. I have now formulated a company specializing in Media & Marketing known as Turning Point Global LLC. Also this caused me to pivot into the livestream sector and now I have been producing these for myself and clients as well since the initiation of the pandemic.
The purpose of this acknowledgment is this a past failure seemingly has the ability to shape your future at the right time. Always learn the lesson because your direction depends on what you’ve learned from your past. Now as a Pastor and CEO of two companies, I have realized that Lombard street helps so many others expressing the power of pace. Pace dictates how you run the race but not running never helps you finish, so no matter what, Keep Going! If it wasn’t for the support of others in my life, then I wouldn’t be where I am today. Huge shoutout to Alfreda, Stanley, Diandre and Demetrius Campbell and to my entire family. My two children, my business partners Tunisia and Justin and my mentor Demetrius Edwards. God has been great and I’m looking forward as to how the next level in life unfolds for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Currently we are working on a project to raise capital for Sierra Leone relief efforts for a non profit organization known as Kono Bui Campaign. Now as of May 2nd Turning Point Church will be launched and our efforts will continue to serve from the four walls to the four corners.
