Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Jones.
Hi Melanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Like many of us, I spent most of my life struggling with a lack of self-confidence and limited by my own fears and negative patterns. I tried so many things to get myself “unstuck.” Whether it was reading self-help books or pinning thousands of motivational quotes on Pinterest or following inspirational social media pages – nothing ever clicked for me long term. I was always briefly motivated to improve my situation, but it was never long before I’d end up settling back into the same place of self-doubt, mediocrity, and stagnation. There came a point where I was like, “okay, maybe I just need to accept that I have a boring life and just go through the motions. Maybe I’ll be happy in my next life.” It was really depressing. But that little voice inside me wouldn’t give up.
On this deep level, I knew that I deserved a more fulfilling life. We all do. We wouldn’t have these ambitions in our hearts if we weren’t designed to be able to achieve them. So I got serious about changing my life and was determined to do whatever it took to find my purpose and passion and start living with more intention. I sought out counseling and energy healing and life coaching and then hypnotherapy. And wow… hypnotherapy completely changed my life. It was so effective that I decided I HAD to share it with others. There are so many misconceptions and myths around what hypnosis and hypnotherapy are really about, so it’s not as mainstream as it should be. That being the case, I’ve just made it my mission to become an expert at providing hypnotherapy, in the hopes that the more people who experience it properly and experience the transformative effects of it, the more it can spread and create a ripple effect of meaningful impact in people’s lives. Too many of us are living on autopilot and hypnotherapy reprograms our internal GPS so we can better control where we’re going in life. Some people think of hypnosis as “sleep,” but it’s actually about waking you up to your true power and potential. Along those same lines, some people think of hypnosis as mind control, but it’s actually about giving you back control of an issue you’ve lost control over (whether that’s a fear you don’t have control over or a weight-loss issue or a habit that you can’t seem to control).
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle has been helping people to understand the truth about hypnotherapy and how transformative it can be. There are many myths and misconceptions I try to dispel. After people experience it for themselves, though, they become fans. That’s why I’ve created sort of introductory ways to ease people into the idea of trying hypnotherapy, such as my weekly Sister Circle groups, which are group hypnotherapy and guided discussion of certain self-improvement/personal development themes, in a small group setting.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud of the work I do in helping people to regain their confidence. We’re all born confident, inherently worthy, and not worried about superficial things like our weight or the label on our diapers or what our hair looks like. Over the years, we become programmed by society, our parents, our peers, the media, etc. to believe that we’re not enough, we need to look or behave a certain way in order to be worthy of praise or love or approval, things that we desperately crave. So we embed that belief “I am not enough/not worthy” and it becomes a limiting belief that negatively affects us in so many areas of our lives, from our careers to our relationships to our health. So when I can work with someone to help uncover the roots of when they lost their confidence and we can re-write that narrative on the subconscious level (which is where your beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and habits are all stored), it can literally change their lives.
I also enjoy working with weight loss clients because you’d be surprised how much of our issues around weight and eating and exercise are connected to beliefs in our subconscious mind. It’s the reason why we can logically think, “I’m going to stop eating late at night” or “I’m going to exercise every day,” but repeatedly find ourselves in the kitchen at midnight or glued to the couch rather than in the gym. There’s a subconscious block there that’s preventing you from going after and achieving your goals and I love using hypnotherapy to help uncover and remove that block. It’s very rewarding for myself and my clients.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Not caring about what others thought of me. Like many kids, I was completely lacking in self-consciousness until middle school. Lol. I try to recapture that feeling as often as I can, not caring about what others think and just enjoying life.
