Conversations with LaCoya Lovett

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaCoya Lovett.

Hi LaCoya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is LaCoya Lovett, but all my “cousins” call me Coyaa Love. I am a Body Positive Advocate/Plus Size Model located in Dallas, TX. I’m originally from Strong, AR. I moved to Dallas in 2017 and started doing makeup known as “Coyaa Redd Artistry.” I slowed down in the makeup community and started to focus on plus-size modeling, where I’ve rebranded to be known as “Coyaa Love.” I have always been considered a plus-size girl. I battled with self-confidence issues, insecurity, body shaming, etc. but never told anyone. The purpose of my brand is to promote body positive images and self-love. I want every woman to love their bodies no matter their weight. Weight is just a number it doesn’t define who you are. You are beautiful don’t let scale or society define you.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth. If it was, I wouldn’t be exactly where I would like to be at the very moment but I’m still building my brand and my name every day. The hardest obstacle that I’ve encountered was transitioning from a makeup artist to a plus model. The purpose of my brand is to promote self-love and body positive images and sometimes that can be discouraging because I don’t always get the responses I would like but I still keep pushing because I know there are people out there who look up to me and my self-confidence.

I am a body positive advocate. I promote self-love and self-confidence no matter your shape or size. I’m also an InfluenceHER, I work with other brands as well.
