Meet Terrinika Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrinika Anderson.

Hi Terrinika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My full name is Terrinika Anderson I’m 29 years old and originally from New Orleans, Louisiana I came to Texas after hurricane Katrina. Our home was destroyed and we lost everything so my parents decided to stay in Texas. I had a passion for hair since the age of 12. I started off as what some people would call the “neighborhood Braider” I practiced daily and continued to improve over the years. I graduated from The Colony high school and received my cosmetologist license. I love to study the different patterns and textures of hair and new hairstyles. Since graduating high school, I’ve became a wife and mom to my husband and three wonderful children Hakia, King, and Bella Mae. I stopped doing hair professionally because of my new role and to focus more on my family. I switched career choices and got into the medical field for ten years.

I was laid off from my job due to COVID March of 2019 and took a leap of faith. Hair has always been my first passion, so even though I lost my job it was kind of a relief. I was excited for this new chapter in my life. September 15, 2020, I opened “Terrinika’s Beauty Supply”. I decided not to do hair full time but instead, I wanted to give one on one time to help educate women and men on their hair and the best products for their hair. Terrinika’s Beauty Supply has been opened for six months now and I have been able to engage, learn, laugh, help, and love so many amazing people. My goal everyday is to give the best customer service no matter who you are. I genuinely care for my customers and their experience when coming to my store. I welcome each of them with open arms. They’re the reason my store is where it is today in such a short period of time. Through my everyday life I pray the Lord continues to use me through this journey and I always remain humble.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
1. Discrimination was a huge factor in the very beginning still making progress it has gotten better over the past few months. 2. Separating business and friendships 3. Not being able to cook dinner every night and spend more time with my family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Terrinika’s Beauty Supply is a Black owned beauty supply store specializing in hair extensions, hair care products and beauty products. My store is known for making people no matter their ethnicity feel beautiful and engaging with others. Our goal at Terrinika’s Beauty Supply is to be the “Chick-Fil-A” of Beauty Supplies by giving exceptional customer service and creating a healthy atmosphere inside and outside of my store. The difference between my store and others is that ’m very knowledgeable when it comes to hair products and different brands. I help find the best product in my store that I know works for your hair type. Prior to recommending any products I ask multiple questions regarding their past and present of their hair regimen. Brand wise I’m most proud to say instead of adding to the collection of brands in their product bucket that sits underneath the cabinet. I find what’s best for my customers no matter how long it takes and build their confidence and trust in the process.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years there will be a franchise of “Terrinika’s Beauty Supply” continued growth. The more stores the more people I’ll be able to help worldwide.
