Hi Myra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I created MEMY Eyewear five years ago with just a thought. As a native New Yorker, I live and breathe fashion. This fashionista believes a Chic look can be achieved on a budget. My hastag is #fashonabug and #Shoponabudg.
My love for fashion led me to create MEMY Eyewear. My collection of eyewear is classy, sassy, and affordable. It is my opinion eyewear is a fashionable accessory and a powerful statement piece. I am humbled and grateful that I have had celebrities wearing MEMY Eyewear, such as Actor/Comedian and Friend Sherry Shepherd, Actress/Singer JLo, Actress/Bresha Webb, just to name a few! I am proud of my accomplishments this far!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely! I learned through trial and error. I had to survey the market and then find my “niche.” I have had several trade show booths to see who my competitors were. I surveyed who would be my clients at the end of the day. The light was very dim some days but I pushed forward and the sun began to shine brighter as I struggled through the process. Hard work and dedication motivated me to learn the business and to do something different that was not being done already. My customers range from 21-55 years of age. I would say some struggles along the way was fear and time management. When you are working for yourself, it’s so rewarding that you can’t give up but keep pushing through!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Accountant and Business Manager for the North American Region for my Company. We specialize in Retail Catalog Software for major Retailers. I am most proud of graduating and receiving my Bachelor’s with honors Magna Cum Laude. I have three companies that I founded, talktomyratoday, MEMY Eyewear and I am also an Interior Decorator #designsbymyra are on my page Shoponabudg on IG where you can find all my creative designs. What sets me apart from others is my personality. I am my authentic, educated, fun, exciting and I have an infectious smile!
