Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Hempkins.
Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well let’s see….surround yourself by exceptional people and see where it will take you, My journey begins in Dallas, born to proud immigrant parents, who worked hard and loved me harder. I had no siblings so really it was just me, my mom and dad, at least here in the Dallas area. I had a great childhood, but it didn’t come without struggles. My mom had polio, my parents were immigrants (which comes with its own challenges), we struggled with money, I always felt a little different, yet some how I always fit in. I think that came from my mom’s ‘no excuses’ attitude. She always had me believe we were no different than anyone else- and anything they have you can have as long as you put in the work. I still preach that to my kids. Another thing my mom wanted me to have is friends, lol. She can from a large family, and it just being the 3 of us, she always encouraged me to have plently of friends. So that’s what I did! I made plenty of friends.
I don’t know why but people have always described me as being really ‘nice’… ugh! BUT, YES,… I ACTUALLY AM really NICE. I’m the one who never wants to leave people out, never want to hurt anothers feelings, tries to see everyone’s side prior to making decisions, some people have even told me I dim my light to allow others to shine. That’s okay because being ‘nice’ has put some pretty amazing people in my life. Starting with my high school friends, one of which was studying to become a teacher and encouraged me to be a teacher too. I taught school for 17 years! I loved the children, but after starting my own family. I was really craving some adult interaction. My then husband was a realtor and we had been flipping and investing in homes for a while, so naturally I went straight into real estate. After years of being a realtor and realizing that my marriage was coming to an end, I took a job with a terrific lender who saw my ability to make friends as a business development gift. I learned alot from that lender, he opened the door for me to meet tons of people, taught me some amazing sales techniques and eventually introduced me to wonderful lady named Janiel, who really changed my life’s direction. She believed in me and gave me the opportunity at Old Republic Title and I have been loving every minute since. I thank my lucky stars every day that I get to share that Old Republic Title/Plano has some of the best escrow teams in the business. My escrow teams work really hard (sometimes day and night) to help realtors, lenders, investors and consumers get their home transactions closed smoothly. I never doubt they are doing their best for any of the clients I meet and send their way.
As for being a Sales Executive…. it’s an interesting title to me. I really don’t consider myself a sales executive. I consider myself a connector of people, relationship builder, a resource for realtors, investors, and lenders. Being a sales executive is a dream come true. I get to make friends for a living!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nope! Like I said, I went through a divorce, faced many financial issues throughout my life and had to start from zero. I had to tell my kids ‘no’ many of nights. Starting a new career wasn’t easy either!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
