Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Hogan.
Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in church but was very shy and didn’t talk to people unless they asked me a question first. I had so much faith built up on the inside of me but I wasn’t sharing what I was learning. I should have known God was on the move and working behind the scenes in my life because when I went to register for college I was told I had to take speech as one of my prerequisite classes. That semester is when everything started to change. God gave me strength that allowed me to stand up in front of a crowd and give a presentation.
In fact, I actually liked it and learned I was not bad at it either. I soon realized that all my years of soaking up the word of God was something I had taken for granted. I was bottling up the answers that other people had been searching for. Well after I had this revelation I began talking to individuals about the bible and explaining scriptures to them. I then had multiple women tell me I explained the bible in a way they could understand. Then one day a co-worker of mine suggested I start a YouTube channel to help people learn the bible. The Lord had already been dealing with me about doing something like that so that is when I stepped out in faith.
On April 7th, 2018 I launched Morning Coffee with Jesus on YouTube. At the time I didn’t realize exactly how God would use this online ministry but today it has turned into an avenue to motivate women and encourage moms throughout their week. It has opened doors in my life and is now a traveling ministry where God uses me to uplift others and teach them how to find their purpose in life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Teaching has always been something I enjoyed. I love helping people understand things that were a challenge to them in the past. However, growing up I always wanted to be behind the scenes and help from afar or one on one but the Lord had different plans for my future. He stretched me to come out of my comfort zone and start public speaking in churches and at events. In the past, I wondered why God would pick me since I was shy and didn’t like everyone staring at me. However, in stepping out and doing what He has called me to do it has become a testimony that it doesn’t matter how underqualified you think you are. If you are willing and obedient God will use your voice and life’s journey as a way to impact many other people’s lives.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me are women understanding they have a purpose in life. So many times the world will try to put labels on you and make you feel like you can’t or you aren’t good enough but that is a lie. We are all made unique and have so much to offer, sometimes you may not see your gifts and talents on the surface but each one was created for a reason. God shows us through his word who we were created to be which is why I love sharing what I have learned because it brings insight and uncovers the beauty that lies in each person. I also think it’s vital to know how to be an overcomer. There are always going to be obstacles that try to get in your way of pursuing your dreams but that doesn’t mean you have to be defeated.
It takes a certain kind of mindset to keep going when you really want to give up. The Bible tells us to renew our minds and in doing so you start to see solutions instead of just the problems. Our thoughts control our words and our words create our future.
Now the most important thing is to have a personal relationship with God. When we move closer to God we learn how true love operates and then we can apply that in our marriage and our parenting. As a wife and mom, it’s easy to feel like a failure at times but when we realize that God is on our side it gives you a confidence booster and that nudge to keep going and never give up.
If I could leave you with one statement it would be, “Never settle for less than God’s best.”
