Yazzi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved to bake. My passion stems from my mother and great-grandmother, both of whom would bake for the family. I inherited the love of baking at a young age and when I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle, I recreated my favorite recipes so that I could still enjoy my desserts. With the encouragement of my family, I decided to start Yazzi Cakes when I was 17 years old. I initially started with cupcakes, and from that, I expanded to baking cakes, rice crispies, and other desserts.
Since 2017, I have connected with so many clients, sharing my love for plant-based eating, and curing every sweet tooth along the way. Throughout the years. Yazzi Cakes has become an important part of my life, and I’m really proud of what I have accomplished so far. As I continue to invest in myself, my next move is to open my own bakery. One day, I would like to be known worldwide as a spirited young woman who makes bomb cakes and serves smiles wherever I go.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a smooth road for the most part. Finding new customers and broadening my reach has been the most challenging and I am constantly learning new ways to market my business. 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic was a big hit to Yazzi Cakes. I lost orders and the revenue halted. Although I had to close temporarily, that time gave me the opportunity to focus on improving my recipes and brand. Since then, Yazzi Cakes has been steadily gaining momentum and hopes to expand with other products in the upcoming months and the new year.

Yazzi Cakes is owned and operated by 20-year-old baker and college student, Yazzi. We are a 100% plant-based bakery based in Dallas. Yazzi Cakes aims to cater to all diets and provide a source of healthy desserts for everyone to enjoy. We can veganize your favorite flavors and create custom cakes and cupcakes for every occasion.
