Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Korobov.
Hi Mary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mary Korobov, and I am the owner and one of the instructors of Fit4mom The Colony Lewisville. I live in Carrollton, TX, with my husband Mark and 3 kids: Lilianah (12) Kaeden (4) and Hana (our dog) who is 9. I was born in Dallas, TX, but moved around a lot as a kid. In 2008 I moved from Dallas to Iowa to start my family and finish college. I graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship where I ran a small boutique out of my home until relocating back to Texas in 2013 where I worked as an Insurance Broker for 5 years until getting pregnant with my son in 2016. At that point, my husband and I decided that I would concentrate on raising our family instead of going back to work. So, I became a full time stay-at-home mom. I loved it, but it became very lonely at times. I did not have many friends who were in the same season as me that I could lean on for support. I was missing the community aspect of it — the connection.
After a few failed attempts, I finally found the courage to start attending Fit4Mom classes at a local franchise when my son was 18 months old. I started as a Stroller Strides client. I loved it and the community so much that I became certified and began teaching Stroller Strides and Strides360. It changed my life. As corny as it might sound, I felt like I had found my calling. I credit the unique mom-success culture of Fit4Mom for helping me find balance between motherhood and business while contributing financially to my family.
Fast forward to today– a post covid reality. Everything shut down, but I still saw the need to hold these mamas up and keep moving forward. So I stepped out in faith, and now I am coming up on my one year anniversary. I would not be here if it were not for the women who supported me every step of the way. They are the ones who show up, inspire, and make this dream of mine a reality. It is because of these incredible women that I can be as vigilant in further reaching and helping #allthemoms I can by bringing health, fitness, and community to the forefront.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We opened during one of the hardest times around the world, especially for moms. Their responsibilities and stress grew more than ever.
So my challenge was not only to get them to step out of their homes but also to convince them to bring their babies to class when many were scared or couldn’t imagine working out and socializing in a safe way. We jumped through every hoop to keep these mamas happy, motivated, and emotionally well. It became less about the money and more about helping those I saw struggling the most. We encourage your fit, not our fit. Whether it is emotional, physical, or both, everyone is always welcome.
We went from in-person to virtual to in-person and back again depending on the need, the want, and the crazy weather. We made classes and community more attainable.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a pre- and post-natal fitness and wellness group. We offer multiple fitness classes a week for every season of motherhood. Not just for the SAHM, but the working mama too. Classes consist of Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, Strides360, Body Boost, and Body Well (a boot camp style workout), and Run Club! Each workout is meant to meet mama where her body is at pre- and post-baby; We help mama reach any goal she wants to achieve. And of course, she can always bring her baby. Again it’s about her fit, not ours. We also offer many in class type activities, songs ,and games to keep baby entertained while mama is working out.
But we are more than just a workout and that is what makes us special. We are a community of mamas who depend on each other to get through this chaotic season of life called motherhood. Our motto is “No Mama Left Behind” because there is always a seat at our table. Doesn’t matter where you came from or the journey you are on, we are here for you. We have an amazing inclusive group of mamas from all over who love to share the spirit of Fit4Mom! So if you show up to one of our classes, we will do whatever it takes to make sure mama and littles get what they need to feel welcome, comfortable, and want to come back!
We also offer monthly events for Mama like themed events, craft nights, moms’ night outs, and community service projects. For Littles, we offer stay and play opportunities with sensory bins and many themed activities and meet ups depending on the month. We even offer fun family Saturday classes and community events when you want to invite the whole family!
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
This is only my first year in business, 3rd year with Fit4mom, and it’s not something I nor my family ever in a million years thought I would be doing. I was an insurance broker for many years prior and always assumed I would go back to that.
