Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Crook.
Hi Courtney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi Guys. I’ve always had a fiery passion for the hair world since I was four years old. When I turned 16 I started styling extensions out of my parents second garage on friends and family until my senior year of Highschool. I studied at Paul Mitchell the school-Dallas for my cosmo education. Right after I graduated I moved to Austin where I blossomed after my apprenticeships. I’ve worked 5 years behind the chair located at the Salon @ the Domain and Deep Roots-ATX. I’ve now relocated back to Dallas to be closer to family and I can’t wait to see where live takes me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road. I was always told that you had to do something good before you do something bad. I’ve failed a couple of times.
However, the perfectionist in me studied until I got it right. Now, I’m so grateful and stayed committed to my craft. It paid off in the end. Color was the hardest to learn to be transparent. It’s so much science behind it. I say you find what works for you and just stick to it. That’s how you create your “specialty”.
To the young stylist who has failed and feels hopeless of growing. GET UP and KEEP GOING. You are human and you are going to mess up. Pick your head up, Keep glowing and growing.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hairsalon. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
In my salon, I appreciate and love EVERY SINGLE TEXTURE in the world no matter WHO you are. In my studio suite, I provide:
-Blonding services
-Balyage
-Full colors
-Vivids
-Silk press
-Keratin treatments
-Extensions such as Sew-ins, Hand-tied, Mirco-links, K-tips and Tape-ins.
-Customized Modern Dry-cuts (bobs and longer)
What makes me different then the rest is that I’m an African American artist who is well-rounded in every texture because I’ve educated myself for preform on every texture. I also provide modern dry cuts.
What I want you know about my brand is that in my suite you will feel the love of loving every race. My goal was to always be the Hair Martin Luther King. I have so much love to give. My clients have become my friends and family. So when you sit in my chair it’ll feel like talking to a long lost friend.
How do you define success?
I define success by finding your purpose and walking into it. The money is just the fruit. I know I made in life from all of the hearts I touch. Being successful is the fulfillment in the heart.
