Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Billik.
Hi Christopher, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve been involved in music my whole life. I’ve never had a job outside of music. I had a home studio growing up and worked at music stores and radio stations. At 18 years old I attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. I moved to Dallas and did my internship at Audio Dallas. I got my first full-time engineering position at The Kitchen Recording studios where I made a couple Dallas classics like Big Tuck “Southside the Realist” and Damm D “Love Me”. I left the Kitchen to open Element Sound in 2021.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making music professionally is always a struggle but if you love it, you’ll do it regardless.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I designed Element Sound to be a place where artists, writers, producers, and other creatives with audio needs can be completely comfortable and focused. There are no distractions here. The entire building is yours, from the lobby to the studio to the restrooms. I think it’s very important to feel like you can be yourself when you’re creating. I wanted a place that encouraged that feeling. The early results have been phenomenal. I knew that this facility could be productive but I didn’t know how much faster and smoother everything could be until I got it up and running. We are getting tasks accomplished quickly!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I could build my own studio.
