Today we’d like to introduce you to Margery Gossett.
Hi Margery, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Daniel and Dennis Blagg opened Artspace111 in 1980. In 2007 I meet with them and started working with them to turn the small gallery space and studios into a commercial gallery.
We did a major renovation to the warehouse building and the empty lots behind and next to the building. We quickly decided that the space was so unique that we should host events. We hired a long-time friend and events coordinator to help us get off the ground. The first event we had in the space was an opening for an artist’s reception. The coordinator had fun with the fact that we were not fully renovated at that point and had the servers wear construction belts and hard hats!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles especially when working with so many different personalities, however, we have created a really strong team of lead coordinators and support staff that go above and beyond to make events at Artspace111 special. I think the laid-back nature of our coordinators paired with the vibe of the space makes for a very special place to have a party!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Artspace111?
Artspace111 is Fort Worth’s premier event venue for weddings, parties, corporate events, and any get-together that thrives in a unique and inspiring setting.
Artspace111 has been hosting events for over 14 years in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. Our dedicated team is here to make your day the perfect day.
This historic space was built in 1910 and originally was a furniture warehouse that housed furniture for Rosenthals located in downtown Fort Worth.
This unique event space has many stand-out features that will leave an impression on your guests, including the original doors, old foundation posts as cocktail tables, two sculpture gardens. An outdoor patio and ceremony area allow couples to have the best of both worlds when deciding between an indoor or outdoor venue.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I would consider myself lucky in life and thankful for the circumstances that are cultural, financial, and societal that have contributed to my business. “Luck” has only placed me where I needed to be when I needed to be there. Luck can only take you so far. Luck does not build a successful life, but hard work, late nights, and early mornings do.
