Hidden Gems: Meet Gina McGowan Cade of Trinity Writing and Publishing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina McGowan Cade.

Hi Gina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello, I am so excited to have this time to speak about Trinity Writing and Publishing, LLC. I have been a writer since a child. I have been married 33 years to Byron Cade and we have two adult sons; our oldest works in IT and the youngest is serving his country in the U. S. Navy. When our sons were young, they had their own magazine subscriptions, Sesame Street and Sports Illustrated Junior. My husband and I wanted our sons to enjoy reading as much as I did. We would place their magazines in the bathroom on a magazine rack. When they go for weekend rides they would read and listen to Radio Disney.

I am the second-born child and eldest daughter in a family of six children. My parents are Pentecostal pastors. I am an ordained minister and a certified Christian Counselor. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University. I am also a full-time writer, writing coach, and publisher of Trinity Writing and Publishing, based out of Frisco, Texas.

I was laid off from my job a few years ago and I received a severance package that would allow me to relax and breathe for a while. I wasn’t sure if I would return to work, start a new business, or take a vacation. The next month a job fell into my lap and I took it. I was making approximately $13K more than the previous job. It was in the mortgage industry. I stayed there one year and moved to another mortgage company making $12K more than I was just making. Within six months I was laid off from that job. I have no regrets about leaving the previous job, in case you’re wondering.

I was publishing and ghostwriting on the side. When laid off from the second job, I knew what was in my hands and while in prayer I told the Holy Spirit if I could have His strategic hands in my hands I would work as a full-time writer and publisher. Two weeks later, in April 2021, after being laid off, the writing jobs began to find their way into my inbox. My previous clients were calling, emailing, and texting with others who needed my services. Content Creation, Publishing, Ghost Writing, Coaching, and Book Collaborations began to take off. I had my first Writing Challenge and 10 people signed up. I was excited and they were just as excited as I was. Trinity has made many authors from the time since being laid off from my job. Some of these authors have gone on to have podcasts, speaking engagements, a talk show, and even TV appearances.

We don’t have the cheapest prices when it comes to Coaching, Ghost Writing, and Publishing but the people come back and send their friends and colleagues to us because our work is guaranteed to satisfy our clients. They receive quality work. I am not in a race to publish hundreds of books per month. I am in a race to make every client a repeat client. How do I do that? I do it by pushing out quality work and staying on top of the challenges that we encounter.

Our Writing Challenges have become popular with Children’s Books and we have hand-selected some of the best illustrators in the industry. I would like to note: Our Illustrators for Children’s Books work independently, away from Trinity Writing and Publishing. They are a work-for-hire company. Their prices are separate from our packages.

Whether your first book or your next book is non-fiction, fiction, self-help, or a children’s book, we can show you how to write your book for the general public and your target audience.

I am blessed to have met quality editors to make our work shine like the diamonds that write them. Trinity is always looking for more editors to keep the flow of work moving right along. We have other people behind the scenes working to keep Trinity Writing and Publishing moving forward with innovative ideas, platforms, and techniques that I myself would not have been able to handle alone. When I started the business, I didn’t set out to work it alone. I didn’t always have a staff but I always had the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit = Trinity. We are a Christian company. We do have the right to turn down work. Don’t let that stop you from presenting your story ideas or your manuscripts. We know what it takes to get from point A to point B. Your past might be titled, “Naughty by Nature or The Pole, The People, and Mr. Pete.” We all have a story, and we all have a past. What brought you over might be a saving grace for the next person.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road as every month brings along different clients. When getting started I had to make sure the monthly bills were covered, everyone was receiving their work on time, and I was able to raise my head to check for emails. I didn’t have a staff as I began Trinity as I stated earlier and the balance wasn’t there. I had to strategically change things around each month to make it all come together. I had to make it make sense. It wasn’t easy, but I am making it through the growing pains.

Also, the prices have had to change. When I started out I had a 9 – 5 job and I was doing the work because I knew how to do it, but after getting laid off from work I had to charge at a rate of a company, and not as a side-hustle. It is working out even when I was dragging my feet to make the change. I wasn’t sure if my repeat clients would return. I can report that they are and don’t mind paying the price change.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Trinity is a writing and publishing company. We specialize in Coaching Clients to write books, as well as publishing. Coaching comes naturally and it flows from me after I have had a consultation with the client. As I am coaching clients to write their books they see their book come alive usually after our first session. Most of our coaching clients, when they choose the four-month service they write their book as we work together. No matter the theme of the book, the hardest part is getting started when you lack direction, and the easiest part is being in touch with Trinity so we can put you on the right track to assist you in having a completed book.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5 – 10 years I would like to see us having a Writing Center, a place where writers can sit together in a room and learn the techniques of writing and learn how to craft story ideas.
