Meet Madison Anders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Anders.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with movies and television. My acting journey started when I chose to take a commercial acting class at Kim Dawson Studios in Dallas. Each week, we would audition, and a winner would be chosen at the end of class. Having no prior acting training or experience, my classmates and acting instructor voted me the winner of 5 out of 8 auditions. That gave me confidence to embark on a career in acting. I booked my first character role in December of 2017. Since then, I have played the lead or co-star role in 7 short films and 3 tv/web series, receiving several IMDb credits as a result. I’m just getting started, but it has been an incredible journey so far. What I love the most about acting is getting a chance to view the world through the eyes of my character and gaining a new perspective. Finding a common ground is key for me to relate to my character and deliver my performance with conviction. As of now, I continue to book roles independently and study acting in the DFW metroplex. My goal is to sign with a major talent agency this year.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging thing about my acting career so far is that I don’t have the luxury to only focus on acting and getting better at my craft. Having to work full-time on top of other responsibilities outside of acting has made it difficult to take advantage of every opportunity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My acting experience has primarily been in film and television; however, I plan to add stage to my acting repertoire. My acting technique of choice is called Stanislavski’s method. I believe that as the actor, I am the lawyer of my character. No matter my personal opinion, it is my job to convey the “truth” about the character I am portraying. So, I like to do background research and pull from personal experiences in order to get into the mindset of each character. Another way that I like to express myself as an artist is through music. I sing and I also play piano and drums. My favorite music to play is gospel music.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Some books that have helped me accomplish some of my best work are “An Actor Prepares” and “Building a Character” written by Constantin Stanislavski. Also, “Sanford Meisner on Acting” written by Sanford Meisner and Dennis Longwell.
