Rising Stars: Meet Abby Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Turner.

Hi Abby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Being the youngest of 4 daughters, I was the “wild card.”

I constantly played dress-up in my mom’s clothes. Dressing up as a child was exhilarating! Not because I felt “pretty” but because clothes have a way of impacting your confidence.

I’ve always been a girly girl! I rolled my hair and wore makeup by the time I was 12, by choice.

My creativity and passion for fashion, beauty, and loving people has always been a strength and my “foundation” for living.

“Look your best and be friends with everyone” has always been a family mantra.

School was hard for me and it took a toll on my sense of self-worth and self-esteem.

However, challenges are masked as stepping stones that eventually lead to what we’re called to do in life.

Those challenges eventually led me to launch my first fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog called Traced With Grace!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is NEVER a smooth road. Just look at the photo of my hair blowing in the wind! Starting something new always brings wind-like resistance.

It’s not a bad thing! In fact, it’s necessary to endure hardships in order to learn, adapt and prepare for the next level.

It’s also a cumulative road.

Every disappointment, rejection, heartbreak, and roadblock has led me to this road.

My performance in school was disappointing. Making friends has always been challenging. I’m also divorced.

There are many other struggles I’ve endured to get to where I am. I’m open about my struggles with depression, body image and addiction. I talk more about these issues on my Instagram and blog page.

In a nutshell, it has been anything BUT a smooth road. But the challenges and obstacles have made me successful. Successful in the sense of not letting the naysayers get me down and being less concerned about others’ opinions.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I blog all things fashion, beauty, and lifestyle- aka encouraging others through life’s challenges and helping women feel and look their best. That begins internally.

Encouraging women is my passion. During these times, a closed-door can look like the end. But it’s actually the beginning to something amazing, if we stay strong and refuse to give up.

Being relatable, authentic, and encouraging others is the best investment we can make in ourselves and that’s what sets me apart from others. When women encourage other women, even if it means giving up our “seat” to let her shine, we all win! You will never regret helping another woman succeed.

I’m also gifted in pairing outfits that are affordable and know great makeup and skincare tricks and hacks. Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Issues are my bread and butter… and I love me some bread and butter!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The shopping! The food! The walking trails. The culture. The art.

I love photography!

During the pandemic, I discovered an eye for photography.

Dallas/Fort Worth has endless beautiful and unique settings to photograph.

Some of my work is on my blog.

I could live without the traffic but it’s not so bad when you have the right music, podcast, or audiobooks.

I love Lysa TerKeurst, Beth Moore, and good mysteries and thrillers as far as audiobooks!
