Today we’d like to introduce you to Micah Benson.
Hi Micah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember; helping people and serving others has always been a passion. From a young age, I always knew that my goal in life was to help motivate, uplift, and inspire. Labeling myself as an influencer adds to the work and dedication that I’ve done for years as I’ve been determined to wake up each day better than I was the day before.
I started pursuing public speaking in my senior year of college at 18 years old. I knew my story was encouraging and began to speak at different high schools and inner-city programs the uplift the next generation. Graduating high school at 15 years then obtaining my bachelor’s degree at 19 years old created a space for me to speak about doing something that was often unheard of.
I’m 2020, I established a faith-based brand called “From Trauma to Triumph.” This brand highlighted my journey of overcoming obstacles to reach my goals and be triumphant in doing so. From there, my following grew and I began to take content creation seriously.
With an emphasis on faith, motherhood, and lifestyle – I use my social media platforms to write captions that do just that. By addressing hot topics, raising awareness of social justice issues, or even offering support with the transition’s life brings, I have found an even deeper love for humanity and encouraging as many people as possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been easy, even now – some days are really tough. Balancing work, pursuing content, and having the drive to increase following and reach my goals can be overwhelming. I relocated to the DFW area from Indiana in May of 2021. Not knowing many people or having any family, I’ve had to adjust to this new normal.
Now, as an expecting first-time mom – I’ve realized the importance of community and have placed a bigger emphasis on showing love to everyone I come in contact with.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a micro-influencer.
I post content on social media platforms and partner up with brands that speak to who I am and align with my personal passions and goals.
I am most proud of the authenticity my brand presents. I’ve vowed to stay true to myself and to trust the timing I’m on. I’ve seen so many people get lost in social media standards and end up unrecognizable. I knew that if I started to change into someone I wasn’t, it would just be a ripple effect.
I believe what sets me apart is my insight and youthfulness. Having graduated college at 19 years old with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and now being a 22-year-old expecting mother – I’ve learned to adjust to the change’s life brings but to always embrace where I am. I don’t believe in limitations. Every day I remind myself and others that we are far more powerful than we give ourselves credit for.
I use my platform to build a bridge between generations who are often separated and don’t interact. Rather it be professional encouragement, lifestyle content, Gen-Z topics, or social Justice issues – I write captions that aren’t catered to one demographic and I’ve seen my following grow as a result.
