Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Moon, L.M.E, I.C.T.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing makeup 13 years ago, and gradually made the shift to medical aesthetics when it became clear that healthy skin was essential to good makeup. I went on to become a senior laser technician and clinical aesthetician at a top dermatology practice in Fort Worth, where I became intrigued with the idea of micropigmentation for the eyebrows. So many people suffer with eyebrow loss from medical conditions, and others are just unhappy with their eyebrow shape. I was excited to learn that I could create natural and long-lasting eyebrows for almost anyone!

I have been an artist since childhood, and I’m always compelled to draw faces. Eyebrows and eyes are always the focal point of my portraits, so creating a natural looking eyebrow is second nature to me. After training with Brow Design International and honing my skills, I decided to start my own business, specializing in hyper-realistic eyebrow pigmentation (microblading) and clinical skin care.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The youngest of my three children was only a few months old when I decided to leave my position at a dermatology practice and start my own business! Taking that leap was a labor of love- full of financial strain, endless paperwork, and struggling to find the balance between work and home. But in hindsight, it was the best decision of my life. I love the creative freedom and flexibility of being a small business owner. I am able to take my time with each client and never feel pressured to overbook my schedule or up-sell products and services unless they truly benefit the client.

BrowGenius is a full-service skin care and microblading boutique. My specialty is creating hyper-realistic, semi-permanent eyebrows using a variety of techniques. I also offer clinical skin care such as dermaplaning, microneedling, chemical peels, eyebrow shaping and custom facials, and I am an authorized retailer of Eminence Organics skin care.

I believe what sets me apart as an artist is my extensive knowledge of skin science. The skin is a living, complex canvas, and for this reason, no two clients can be approached the same way. I never over-book my schedule because I want to maximize the quality of each procedure, allowing room for unexpected challenges without feeling rushed or sacrificing my client’s well-being.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now I am happy with being a one-woman operation, but I could see myself expanding in the future to accommodate more clients as the need arises.
