Conversations with Jessica Keesee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Keesee.

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I like to think Life Coaching chose me. I didn’t choose it. Since the time I could ask, I’ve always been concerned about how people felt and I wanted to see them smile. Throughout life, I’ve found myself in situations that I couldn’t change but I found my peace in helping others. This is a gift and a curse because I would bury myself in other people’s problems and I would detach myself from my own. When I finally realized that my character and my circumstances weren’t interchangeable, life became clearer for me and I was able to clearly see what I wanted to do. In 2018, I’d purchased a life coaching program online which was self-paced, and honestly, I did nothing with it. My wife was deployed in Afghanistan so running a house with 4 children and a grandbaby and extended family was hectic. I had one daughter who had a baby, my son was playing and traveling for basketball, I had a daughter playing archery and cheerleading and my other daughter was off in college in North Carolina. To say I was stretched thin is probably an understatement but it all got done. I had enough to keep me busy so it was easy for my course not to be done because I was busy running a household but when Covid hit in March 2020 and I found myself working from home I realize that was the time for me to start doing something for me so Mother’s Day weekend of 2020 I actually finished my life coaching course and Living Well with Jess was created. Knowing who you are and making peace with things from the past while still loving yourself through it all is my mission. There is nothing we can’t overcome if we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and brave enough to move past disappointments and live in our truth. In July of 2020, I published my first book called Own Your Mess in 14 days or less which is a journal that asks you two questions for 14 days and they are questions that we’ve all asked ourselves at some point. The first question is “how did I get here” and the last question of the book “was it me or was it my representative” and I whole lot of questions in between. In March 2021 I contracted Covid myself and I didn’t know what to expect but I literally was down for an entire month just dealing with one thing after the next. One of the agreements I made with myself when I found Out I had Covid it was that I was going to be at peace I was going to be gentle with my words and I was going to give myself Grace. During this time 52 weeks of Positivity was birthed. My second book. Last year for all of us was horrible. We were literally watching Our family and friends become sick some of them not even returning home from the hospital and I realize that what we were saying to ourselves truly mattered. So, in August 2021 I released 52 weeks of positivity. I’ll give you one positive word for an entire week for 52 weeks which is 365 days to find the good throughout the day. We can always find something wrong so my idea was that if I gave you a word for the week to look for it will change how you see your days. And I feel as though if we spend an entire year finding the good in a day for year it has to be life-changing. The most rewarding part of this journey has being that I have allowed myself to be vulnerable enough to work my own program these things worked for me in the most trying times of my life and I wanted to share that with the world. In July 2022 my first TV show will be on air on Roku TV. The desk of Living Well with Jess is coming to life and I’m excited about that. I know we’ve often found ourselves asking why me and honestly, I am living out the why not me. It should be me. I was created for this and it brings be peace and joy to do it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I was a single mother by the time I was 20 with 2 children. In that time, I’d had 2 repossessions and 2 evictions. There were times I would come home and not have water or power. Struggling trying to make ends meet and feeling like nothing I was doing was ever enough. For a while, I’d turned to drinking daily literally on the phone with my best friend trying to make it home safely because I was drunk leaving the bar.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a certified life coach of Living Well with Jess. I specialize in mindfulness, healing, and marital coaching. I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had on the lives I’ve touched while I’ve been coaching since 2020. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my heart. I’m fully invested in people seeing themselves in a different light and realizing who they are.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
