Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Spates.
Hi Kesha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Kesha Spates, and for the past 8 years, I have served as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor. I have been so grateful to educate and help parents, students, teachers, and healthcare workers achieve their BLS certification. I have always had a strong passion for helping others. I have worked as a Respiratory Therapist for 18 years & it is a career field that I truly enjoy. My career as a Respiratory Therapist fulfills my passion by allowing me to assist others with their healthcare needs. However, when I started my Respiratory Career, I was a mother of 2 toddlers, and as both a mom and a Respiratory Therapist, I quickly learned how important it was to be knowledgeable about CPR. I decided to become a BLS Instructor because I recognized the need for CPR training and education in our community. I enjoy my role as a CPR Instructor because I know that I am helping others learn a lifesaving skill.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had a smooth process of becoming a BLS Instructor. The biggest struggle is really getting your business name out there and having consistent clients. I would love to partner with a few local companies to help provide their business and employees with their CPR certification needs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Respiratory Therapist with a Neonatal -Pediatric specialty. I have been working in a hospital setting for most of my Respiratory Career. I take pride and am most proud of serving in a role as a Respiratory Leader. What sets me apart from others is that although Respiratory is my career, my goal & mission is to serve my patients and families to the best of my ability.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I enjoyed school and enjoyed learning new things. I was very inquisitive, persistent, and dedicated to anything that I started. I knew at a young age that I wanted to work in the medical field because helping others came naturally to me even at a young age.
