Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Hight and Shandy Bowman.
Shandy and Bri met while working at an Aveda Salon in Dallas. They began attending continuing education classes together and they eventually co-managed the biggest booth rental salon in Dallas before opening Mane in the August 2015. They’ve now worked together for more than half their careers.
Mane was created based on a passion for precision hair cutting, French balayage techniques, and top of the line customer service.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For so many years, we struggled to find the perfect salon home. Every place we worked fell short in our top three deal breakers: education, client experience, and team wellness. When we count find it we know we had to create our own. But having your own business comes with its challenges, especially when you are a first-time entrepreneur. Everything we have done has been a learning experience, not only to meet our own personal expectations of having the perfect salon boutique but learning how to run a business the right way! luckily, we have created a great team and support system to bounce all our crazy ideas off of!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mane story. Tell us more about the business.
Mane’s vision is to use cut and color to create the best you. We believe everyone deserves the perfect look for their face shape and hair type and we work with customers to feature their natural beauty. Mane isn’t your typical salon – we will always focus on quality over quantity.
Tired of uptight and impersonal salons, we pride ourselves on both the warmth and comfort of our space and the depth and strength of our technical skills. We provide a private, friendly experience that doesn’t sacrifice professionalism. Mane is known for its local and eco-friendly amenities, unrivaled guest service and top of the line training. Mane has a love and passion for precision hair cutting and French Balayage techniques. We are always learning and growing and striving to keep everyone feeling and looking their best!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
It’s hard to say that we believe in luck. We think things happen in life, we haven’t been blessed with any big breaks (maybe this is the one we have been waiting for) and on the same token, we haven’t had any disasters, thankfully. We have been knocked down or been made to slow down by outside forces. But we have always had our goals in mind and have kept our eyes on the prize.
