Exploring Life & Business with Angie Contreras of Pistil Consortia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Contreras.

Hi Angie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Our story starts when the pandemic started. My husband and I couldn’t avoid the pandemic economic crisis. However, we utilized that as the right time to jump into our own entrepreneurship. When we came up with the name of the firm, we would like to emphasize where we started the business, Flower Mound.

The definition of the pistil is the female organs of a flower, comprising the stigma, style, and ovary. This is what we strive for. Our firm is run by women, led by women, and stands by women. Also, our four studio names are after those parts of flower anatomy. We started with two of us but now have 30+ talented and enthusiastic employees.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It was humble. I know how to process the project, but there gotta be a point where to start. A client who gives us the project to work on. We tried lots of possible ways to look for clients, like linked in, Facebook, and other social media. Meanwhile, we did extensive pro bono work and reduced cost representation for clients who could not afford to pay. Thankfully our name started to spread through word of mouth. All these scenes behind there were David who supports and made them happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pistil Consortia?

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Reading is one of my healing spot. I like to read suspense and thriller genre books. The most recent one I read was ‘And then there were none by Agatha Christie.

Also, my favorite social media I would like to introduce is the pistil consortia 🙂
