Today we’d like to introduce you to Supah Sayin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started making music in 2013! Alternative rock and garbage rap songs. I picked up some tips and tricks and got my own studio together. Mic, Interface, Cables & All… Got a really nice laptop with the memory and processing to run my studio efficiently and went to work creating different sounds. I dropped mostly singles starting around 2019 and ending in 2020. In 2021 I started taking things a little more seriously. Before it was all just random singles, but I managed to compile two albums in 2021 and then another three so far this year (2022). I started building a decent fanbase on SoundCloud, pushing around 100,000 streams. And as of last year, started a YouTube which has gained 30,000 streams! I signed with my label Broken Record Music Club, and things have been on the rise ever since! I’m performing in Ft Worth On Sept. 16th at The Ridglea Theatre and recently performed at The Rail Club as well! Supah Sayin is streaming on ALL platforms! Super excited about that recent development! My First Single, “Divulgence” has racked up 10,000 plays in less than a month! The rest of the album will be dropping on ALL platforms by Sept. 16th! And I’m currently in development of my FIRST commercial album! Which will be heavily inspired by my rap and rock roots.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a fairly smooth time. Life is a roller coaster; you just have to go with the ups and downs. As long as I’ve had an outlet to create, I’ve been in a good place. The biggest struggle per se was the money for the equipment! And understanding the terminologies used when buying or working with certain equipment. Took me a couple of tries, but I finally found a studio setup that I was comfortable with!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I make psychedelic rap! I specialize in my wordplay and lyrics. I’m known for writing, recording, producing, and performing my own tracks! I also record, edit, and produce my own music videos that I post to YouTube! 80% of what I do is in-house and DIY. Now that I’ve signed a deal with Broken Record Music Club, I have a little more help as far as art, scheduling, and distribution! I have been granted full control of my image and artistry, which I’m so grateful for! I really have a hard time compromising my artistry, but I’m also extremely mindful about what I’m putting out energy/image-wise! I would say that my message and my diction speak for me, there is hardly anyone talking about the topics I’m willing to talk about on my projects. I also push for the betterment of humankind which anyone who has sense can get behind! I’m most proud of my label and my family; they have done so much for me this year! I’m just excited to see where our potential takes us!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is probably going out to San Angelo for huge festival-style concerts and moshing with friends until the show stopped or my parents forced us to leave!
