Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Lee.
Hi Summer, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I actually went to school for biomedical sciences, after planning to go to medical school for my entire life. Obviously, that didn’t work out (ha!) During my time in college, I interned at Fossil Group, where I learned so much about the influencer marketing space before the term ‘influencer’ was even really coined yet. That internship along with a few others eventually led me to leading sales at a tech startup, which then led me to several different agencies, leading influencer marketing strategy for beauty and fashion clients. Long story short, I fell into a role at TikTok managing creator partnerships.
Throughout all of my experiences working with creators and influencers, Spark Talent was born as a total side hustle. It started as a way for me to connect on a one-on-one basis with creators and has turned into a full-fledged talent agency. Since 2020, we’ve now grown to a team of 10, with over 30 top-tier creators on our talent roster!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no! I’m a big believer in things happening the way they’re supposed to, and I think that’s really rung true in my own career journey. There are so many times that I can look back on as being really tough, but each of these things have strung together to make a really beautiful path (that’s still being formed!)
I was laid off from not only one but TWO jobs (2020 was a crazy year,) I had to learn a lot of business functions that I had absolutely zero experience in (I’m talking to you, Uncle Sam,) and I’ve learned and am still learning a lot about how to run a business/be a good manager. I’m very much grateful to have these opportunities to learn, though!

Dallas is such a great place to be! What’s not to love – the people are kind, the food is out of this world, & there’s so much to do. My one gripe would probably be the weather though. I can’t say I love four months of 100-degree weather!
