Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Mondragon.
Hi Antonio, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We had just moved from Chicago to the DFW area in 2020. The pandemic had just began & my wife lost her job. One day I set up my griddle in my garage and I had a couple neighbors come by to ask what I was cooking, that then turned into selling to the neighbors twice a week and from there we started getting booked for private parties. We are still catering parties/private events, are vendors at various events and are working on getting our food trailer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As much as I wish It was a smooth road, I’ve definitely hit some bumps along the way. Between managing time with my family, my kids sports and school events, and actual business events it hasn’t been easy. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’m sure there’s still more coming my way.
We’ve been impressed with Sazón Mondragón, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sazón Mondragón specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine. We have the ability to customize a menu according to the type of event no matter how big or small. We are highly known for our delicious quesabirrias, which are tacos filled with melted cheese and shredded beef that has been cooked in its broth. The broth is also served with the tacos for you to dip the tacos in. Main thing that sets us apart is that we are a scratch kitchen. Everything we cook is made fresh; our waters are made from the actual fruit/plant with no artificial powders. When you eat at Sazón Mondragón, you’re not just having basic Mexican food. Our dishes take your taste buds on a journey that you’ll want to visit frequently!
