Conversations with Maree Tha Dancer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maree Tha Dancer .

Hi Maree, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started dancing at a young age I started out dancing at in my room mocking Chris Brown moves on an android and then my mom started letting me go out places as I turned 14 I was going to red bird skating ring almost every Saturday dancing there every weekend then I got to high school I was originally planned on being a football star but dancing started to take over my sophomore year that’s when I left football to take dancing serious. I was going viral at popular parties while in high school. I went viral to iheartmemphis challenge that’s when I broke the internet my first-ever viral video. I graduated 2016. My first year out of high school I got invited to go to concerts to dance on stage xxxtentaction was my first concert I opened up for him as a dancer. Then more and more opportunities started coming pskillz from 97.9 and the radio station got behind allowing me to perform at the 97.9 carshow and other events they had. I performed with nle choppa, and blocboy jb I was goin viral doing their signature dance did 1 million plus views then nle choppa cosigned me from then my career skyrocketed. From there Big boogie a Memphis-based artist signed to CMG Brought me out and let me dance to his whole song mid-set. I would be here all-day listing everything that got me here today. Not being scared or shy got me to where I am today

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road and still isn’t because I got told a lot of nos before I got an opportunity. Struggles you have to be able to take criticism be prepared to talk to your fans even if you’re having a bad day, you can’t let it show and you have to keep going

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m proud of myself because I been through a lot of challenges and didn’t give up I kept fighting. What sets me apart from other is my ambition whatever it takes I’m going to do it when I step on that stage, I give the crowd an energetic experience not everyone can do that that’s what special about me my ability to change energy in a room.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a good, respectful person I never was into doing illegal activities or get into trouble because I didn’t want my career to have a bad start so I never got influenced I’m from the area if that type of stuff but I stay away from trouble much as possible because it’s not worth throwing your life away for small mistakes all I wanted to do was dance that’s all.
