Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosselen Castellar Parra. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Rosselen C. Parra was born in Cartagena, Colombia, and immigrated to the states when she was 5 years old. Growing up in Bryan/College Station, TX (home of Texas A&M) was very different from the lifestyle and culture she once knew. In her younger years, she loved sports, but was not as athletically gifted, which caused her to experience different types of pain, leading her parents to seek chiropractic and massage care. These experiences sparked her interested in wholistic care at a young age.
Since massage therapy or chiropractic were not traditional education paths, she decided to try her hand at college. There she discovered no university degree resonated with her education passions. Her love for anatomy, touch, and wholistic care manifested in seeking a certification in massage therapy in 2014. During school, she obsessed over specializing in techniques that would make her practice unique in the industry. She specialized in Ashiatsu Massage and cupping to create a therapeutic and relaxing environment for clients to heal and recover. Ashiatsu Massage is a style of massage where the therapist uses their feet instead of hands to apply deep gliding pressure throughout the body. It feels like strong forearms and can be deeply relaxing because the surface area of the foot allows the pressure to be dispersed more evenly. This technique opened her practice to a larger population of clients since she is no longer limited by her small frame. Cupping uses cups made out of different materials to apply consistent and pinpointed anti-pressure on an area that needs sustained pressure to release the muscle.
After graduating massage school in 2015 she worked for a chiropractic office which inspired her to pursue a degree in Chiropractic Health. This decision resulted in here moving to Dallas, TX in 2017 where she attended Parker University while working full-time for the prestigious Vaquero Country Club in West Lake, TX. It was at Vaquero that she was introduced to top professional athletes and businesspeople that would support her decision to start her own practice.
Soon after starting the Chiropractic program, she decided that starting her own Spa practice would be the best option for her. The pandemic in 2020 gave her an opportunity to launch the business and create a solo practice. At the same time, she decided to attend Ogle Beauty School in North Dallas and receive her license in the Esthetics. She is now dual-licensed in Massage Therapy and Esthetics. She blends her love for muscle therapy and skin health resulting in the ability to perform multiple services in one treatment allowing clients a unique full-body experience.
Now located in Mattison Avenue Salon Suites in Southlake Town Square RC Massage and Esthetics LLC proudly serves the Southlake and West Dallas Texas community to Massage and Facials.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I have made multiple life changes and still cannot believe what I have been able to accomplish once I find the path I resonate with the most. Personal tragedies result in a re-evaluation of life and career paths. This is one of main reasons I decided to start my own practice instead of continuing my Chiropractic studies or changing jobs. Gaining the courage to work for yourself can be so intimidation it can deter you from working towards you dreams. I suggest always looking toward the future and seeing what you can do today to get you on the path towards your goals. While staying present and enjoying the journey.

–Ashiatsu Massage and Sarga Bodywork: Both techniques require the therapist to use their feet instead of their hands to apply deep consistent pressure throughout the body. Sarga uses a Sarga silk similar to aerialist silk tied to the table to help the therapist balance while using their feet. Ashiatsu uses bars overhead to stabilize the therapist and create seamless flow.
–Cupping: Uses cups of the different materials to apply anti-pressure on an a muscle that would benefit from consistent pressure. This tricks the muscle into releasing causing a deeper sensation of relief.
–Thai Stretching: Uses yoga-like moves while the client is on the table and the therapist performs passive stretches to promote flexibility and relaxation.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Back in my hometown our family home is located on a 200-acre farm. Being able to experience a relaxing environment different from the Urban city of Dallas is what I miss the most. Being able to relax outside at any time and experience nature.
