Today we’d like to introduce you to Mekia Williams.
Hi Mekia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mekia Williams, I am originally from Louisiana. Well, the whole idea started in 2017 when I was working for a major hospital doing contract work. The atmosphere there had me stressed out. Then one day my fear came true. I was laid off. I had no backup plans and no other income. It was at that moment I decided that I didn’t want to solely rely on the corporate world to determine my destiny. I began researching different entrepreneurship avenues and resources. I grew up in the ’80s and ’90s where fashion was and still high demand. I started off with eyelashes and human hair wigs. The name “MinkbyMeek” originated from faux mink eyelashes. 6 months later, I added women clothing to my business. In 2021, I started modeling my inventory by booking professional shoots. This opened up another business venture. I now get bookings for hosting and promoting different events. I have got to where I am today by being humble, patient, disciplined, and teachable.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I faced challenges in the beginning of my inventory search. I had a few trial and errors with the quality of my products. However, I am grateful I had that experience because now I possess some of the most diverse and high-quality products. Even today, I am always researching and finding ways to continuously improve my service. I strive to keep evolving in all aspects of life.

I am the CEO of MinkbyMeek Boutique, a women boutique store located in Duncanville, Tx. We specialize in trendy and everyday women wear and accessories for all occasions. Our pieces are priced at an affordable rate with the highest quality. Each style is carefully inspected before it is shipped out or displayed in the store. We also provide high-quality human hair wigs of various textures and inches…
I am known for my professionalism and my ability to bring people together. I give back to the community through events like pop-up shops and back to school drives and much more! My willingness to go above and beyond for my customers has got me where I am today. My ability to style my customers’ pieces on a more personal level is what sets me apart from other local boutiques. My goal is to add value to every collaboration I take part in. I am proud of the different age groups and backgrounds that trust my brand and support me as I strive to bring solutions to the community.
I also just started my journey as a tax professional and I am really excited about that. My goal is to to help families reach their financial goals as well as educating my clients on how to minimize their tax liability.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family and closest friends have played a role in my success, from keeping my storefront up and running when I am handling other business ventures to constantly referring and promoting my services. I can’t thank them enough. It’s a blessing to have a team that want you to succeed.
