Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Jane Donaldson.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For my sixth birthday, my parents gave me a ‘hair chair’ for my dolls. I would spend hours playing in my pretend salon that I called ‘Beautiful People’. I loved making sure that my ‘guests’ felt pretty. While one doll sat in the chair, I would line up several more with magazines and snacks to make them comfortable while they waited for their ‘appointment’.
Now I am an adult and am able to keep helping my guest feel pretty. I am a licensed cosmetologist and have been licensed for over seven years now. My favorite thing about hair is seeing my client’s face light up with joy once I finish their service and they see how beautiful they look. I primarily specialize in formal event hair and makeup.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I found in the past year has been balancing my home and work life. When I first had my son, I wondered how I would be able to continue working and be a mom. Thankfully, with God’s Grace, an amazing supportive family, and outsourcing I have been able to keep my family first while maintaining quality services that our Bride’s desire and deserve. Being intentional when scheduling my family time, sometimes sending a text instead of making a call, and strategically planning my time at work and home allow both areas to succeed and do really well! I am so thankful because my family and hair & makeup are two of my passions!

Can we schedule a trial before we officially book?
Absolutely! Trials are done in our salon located in Rockwall, TX. Please keep in mind that this doesn’t guarantee your wedding date.
What makeup brands do you use?
We carry a wide assortment including but not limited to Mary Kay, Stila, Anastasia, Urban Decay, Morphe, Ben Nye, Makeup Revolution, and Colourpop.
How soon do I need to book?
I highly recommend booking for your wedding between 6-9 months before your big day. Or as soon as possible to reserve your wedding date!
How do we book your services?
To book with us for your special day, simply email us at simplysarahjanerockwall@gmail.com requesting to book. We will then email you our online contract to fill out and sign. Once we have received the contract and your deposit, we will have your date reserved.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding other vendors with the same mindset and drive has been a huge source of encouragement for me! When you work in the Wedding Industry, you meet people every weekend working the events. It’s always fun to watch how beautiful it is when all our work comes together to make each wedding so unforgettable. It’s such an honor to be able to be a small part of each Bride’s BIG day!
