Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tranise and Preston Goodlow.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Tranise and Preston. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The idea for Best Drinks Ever came in fall 2015. Preston would create drinks for gatherings we held at our home for friends. Upon receiving lots of praise for his creativity and quality of cocktails we decided to open a cocktail catering business. After becoming a corporation, remodeling our office space, and earning approval from the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC) and the City of Dallas, we officially opened in August 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have faced many obstacles in opening our business; from dealing with a dishonest contractor who deceived us, to maneuvering the complex laws of the TABC and City of Dallas. Originally we were projected to open in January 2017, but due to the aforementioned challenges, it delayed opening nearly a year. We also endured financial strain by having to pay rent on our office space and not generating any income from our business, as well as many hidden fees and costs.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Best Drinks Ever – what should we know?
Best Drinks Ever is a full-service event beverage catering corporation. We offer handcrafted, specialty cocktails as well as create custom/signature cocktails. What sets us apart from other companies is we offer more than just bartending services. We have a catering, cartage, and mixed beverage permit from the TABC. This allows us to purchase and sell alcohol in addition to serving it. We also carry liquor liability insurance for all events we service. Our current menu has 65 different cocktail options and is ever expanding.
Because we have a liquor license we offer two different options for all events we service: a cash bar option and a catering option. For a cash bar option we file paperwork and submit a fee to the TABC to sell cocktails by the glass. For our catering option the event organizer pre-purchases a certain number of cocktails prior to the event. At the actual event we have servers give out the pre-paid cocktails until the cocktails are consumed.
We are known for our unique cocktails! Some include the Exotic Dream (which glows), Strawberry Lemondrop, Pink Lemonade Margarita, and King Pin to name a few.
Currently we are the only alcoholic beverage catering in Dallas County. We pride ourselves on being innovative, original, and professional. Additionally all potential clientele are offered free cocktail samples.
