Hi Caitlin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up as a young girl in Milwaukee, WI, I was born with limited growth options and opportunities. I was raised in the foster care system with little support but was surrounded by very loving and favorable mentors. After graduating undergrad in my Bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communications and English, I knew I wanted to be in a profession where I could grow and inspire others. I have a passion through our high school and college for makeup artistry. While I did it for fun, I soon grew to realize it was my life passion and desire to pursue a professional field in makeup artistry. Providing a service to my clients that allowed them to feel beautiful, confident, and empowered completed me in a way that nothing else I ever did felt. Today, I have been a professional freelance makeup artist for 6 years. My brand ‘Touch of Love’ Beauty Brand & Services has a line of cosmetic hand-crafted human hair lashes as well as a podcast on all platforms to promote self-development and healing. Coming from an environment where I had little faith my goal is to remind and empower woman that hope, healing, and joy is possible in spaces small and wide.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been. The beauty industry can often be unwelcoming and unfriendly. It can be harsh. Regardless, it is imperative to believe in your work and in your clientele. As I pour hope and love into my clients and my work, they often do the same for me. The more I work in this industry, I eliminate myself limiting believe of my capabilities in what some would say is an “over-saturated market.” I believe in my work and the power it brings to those who get to experience my work.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional freelance makeup artist. I specialize in soft glam makeup artistry as I am the self-notarized “Queen of Soft Goddess Glam.” I am proud at my ability to connect with women on a personal and professional level. Whenever a have a client in my chair, I use it as an opportunity to pour life into them and leave them in a better state that they came. Makeup is not a moment to make someone appear better but to feel better about themselves, their circumstance, or the world at large, Truly when you look your best you will feel you best. It will truly exude from the inside out since that is where true beauty and feminity reside.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was fairly quiet and shy as a child. I loved to create but spent a lot of time inside and not playing with other kids. I didn’t like outside activities; I would much rather stay inside and create things.
