Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittani Anderson.
Hi Brittani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started becoming interested in hair when I would go with my mom to her hair appointments, when I was young! Her best friend always did the both of our hair & I just fell in love with it by watching her. Once I got into high school, we had the opportunity to take cosmetology classes. I would have so much fun doing my friend’s hair in school which eventually led to us experimenting at home! I was also a part of the theatre program & that gave me the chance to get more into hair & makeup.
After high school, I went straight to college to pursue my career in the hair industry!
I won’t lie the first year as a hairstylist can be tough; not only are you building up your clientele, but you’re learning your own way of doing things… your own techniques… your own formulas … Everyone does things differently, and you have to find what works best for you and your clients.
I am going on 8 years as a stylist & I wouldn’t be where I am today without my clients. They have made me the stylist I am today & I am beyond thankful for them trusting me with helping make them feel beautiful!!!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anytime you’re pursuing a new career, you’ll have bumps in the road. I will say being a self-employed stylist has its tough times because you’re solely dependent on your clients! But there is nothing that has ever made me wanna stop doing what I’m doing!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hairstylist of 8 years & I have truly found my calling in the more untraditional colors, even tho I still love the basics of hair. I specialize in blondes, vivids, and edgy cuts/colors.
I get the most feedback from my blond & vivids. Icy blondes are my favorite, and I love a good crazy transformation with bright, fun colors! They may take hours to perfect, but they’re so worth it!!!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I would say I was more a quiet alternative kid! Theatre was my thing, I stayed out the way of trouble and enjoyed spending every moment with my friends. I’ve always been very interested in unconventional things; I’m a big thrifter/antique enthusiasts. I’ve always loved doing my hair and makeup & getting my friends ready, even if we had nowhere to go.
