Today we’d like to introduce you to Aprill W.
Hi Aprill, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Detroit, MI. I have always loved fashion and playing with clothes. I would head into my corporate job every day, thinking, “I should really start to blog my outfits.” I began getting pieces of equipment bit by bit, and with the pandemic and reels being launched on Instagram – I felt like God was telling me to start. I posted my first reel October 28, 2020, and fell involve with creating content ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, I was working full-time and going to school full-time when I first started so I was very inconsistent. I had no prior experience with social media, editing, signing/reviewing contracts. It was extremely difficult but so rewarding that I can do everything for my brand now. If there is something you want to learn, somebody somewhere is teaching it for FREE.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I create affordable, fashionable looks for curvy/plus-size women. I have a community where curvy women can get inspired to get dressed and feel their best. There’s a saying, “when you look better, you feel better and when you feel better, you treat others better.”
I believe what sets me apart is my heart for women. I truly do love community with women and have always wanted to be a safe landing spot for them.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that DFW always has something to do and that the creators are so good with getting the word out about events and activities. Least, the driving here is insane!
