Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsy Foshion.
Hi Lyndsy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I knew from a young age I wanted to be a hairstylist; I used to cut and try to color my dolls’ hair with Clorox and markers. It became a passion of mine and such a good creative outlet. Growing up, a lot of my teachers frowned upon me going to a trade school, but I knew I was meant to do hair, and that passion has driven me to work as hard as I can and constantly continue to strive for more! I love making women feel beautiful and seeing their faces light up in my chair! I am so blessed to be able to love what I do and build amazing relationships through it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say it’s been a smooth road! I started working in a salon at 19, and being so young had its challenges, from clients being unsure of letting someone so young do their hair to the lack of confidence that comes with the ability to compare yourself to others who have been in the business way longer. Imposter syndrome is huge in the beauty industry, and I am no stranger to it, but I have learned to appreciate it as it pushes me to learn and grow so I can provide the best for my guests!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a blonding specialist! I love creating lived-in looks with lots of dimension and movement as well as bright, gorgeous blondes! I am obsessed with the transformation that happens when someone changes their hair color. When I turn my client around to see the smile on their face and the instant confidence boost they get is the best feeling in the world to me!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry growing a ton, I think a lot of people have had the mindset that our jobs are easy and the “it’s just hair” mindset is diminishing. Women are realizing how important hair is to them and how it really can help their confidence, and I think it’s inspiring a new wave of younger girls to become hairstylists and help bring the industry to a new level. As far as trends go, I see people leaning into more lived-in, natural looks that enhance their natural color!
