Daily Inspiration: Meet Idania Hernandez

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Idania Hernandez.

Idania Hernandez

Idania, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in music at the age of 5. I studied different instruments such as piano, flute, percussion, and singing in music schools in Cuba for more than 13 years.

I also have a degree in Social Communication from the University of Cienfuegos -Cuba. I arrived in Dallas -Texas, in January 2016 to continue my musical career in this country because I had more possibilities to grow my work as an artist.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My career in music has not been a smooth road because I have had to overcome many obstacles; for example, I did not have the means to acquire the instruments to be able to study in Cuba, and it was very difficult.

After arriving in a country where it is another language I had to study English and also learn to know how things work here because I come from a different history and culture.

It is a challenge to get ahead in your music career in a country where you have to start from scratch. However, I have always been characterized by my perseverance and desire to succeed, and that is what has helped me take my career as an artist to another level.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer, musician, composer, and music teacher too.

I am characterized by my versatility on the scene by singing and playing different musical instruments that I exchange in my show with different musical genres such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Ballads, Latin Jazz, and American and international songs.

I have a lot of variety in my musical repertoire, which makes a difference in professionalism and authenticity in my work as an artist and the technical preparation my studies in music schools in Cuba have given me.

I feel proud because many people in this country already know me and recognize my talent. Also, I want to be able to teach music to children, young people, and adults to learn musical instruments, provide them with knowledge, and help them realize their dreams of learning.

What are your plans for the future?
In the future, I want to make more new songs and music videos, learn more musical instruments to improve my show, and continue giving the public the best of me.
