Conversations with Ian Bridgman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Bridgman

Hi Ian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey everyone, my name is Ian Bridgman, but you may know me better as DJ Serve! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been serving the event DJ scene for over 10 years now, creating the atmosphere and setting the dance floor on fire! Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or a house party, I have developed, and continue on crafting my skills and experience to keep the energy high and the crowd grooving all night long.

But DJing isn’t just a job for me; it’s my passion. I live and breathe music, especially 80’s – 90’s hip hop. The head bopping breakbeats from Big Kirt to the infectious melodies of Heavy D & The Boyz. The beat production of Dr Dre, to the lyrical masterpieces of the Wu-Tang Clan, this music has a way of communicating stories in a way that holds a special place in my heart. It’s the genre that gets people in the mood to dance, sing along, and create unforgettable memories.

I started out helping friends and family members at their weddings and parties play their music and established myself as iBriDJ Entertainment. I flew under that banner for a long time and still refer to myself under that entity. But recently God as highlighted that I have been called to Serve, in all areas but specifically DJing.

I have always found myself in positions, whether in a work environment or otherwise, where people call out the gift of empathy and discernment in myself. I always known that I had these gifts but never realized how beneficial they are in a customer service industry. As I have been building iBriDJ Entertainment and honing my craft as a DJ I came to realize recently that every event I DJ there is a laying down of myself to Serve the client, but more importantly serve God.

Shortly into my DJ career I believed I had a good thing going. I was picking up gigs, getting good reviews from my clients and slowly building up my supply on DJ speakers, DJ decks, microphones and more. I had MY business the way I wanted it to be going. But it’s interesting how quickly God can turn your head around to focus on the things that need focusing on. I came home one evening to find that the home my wife and I were living in was broken into and robbed. All of the DJ gear, my laptop, and most of my valuables were stolen. I realized after conversations with my wife, Chelsea, and much prayer that I had to give it over to God.

So I did.

Since then I have been released to serve in a greater capacity than I ever could have through my own efforts. Now I can say yes to charity events that can’t afford the cost of professional entertainment for their events. The honor to be known as DJ Serve has become so humbling while at the same time challenging me to step up and continue to provide top notch DJ entertainment for anyone who would have me.

Now when I’m not behind the decks, I spend my time serving my beautiful wife Chelsea, son Daxon, and daughter Jolie. We love musical theatre, wine and charcuterie boards, and hosting events whenever and wherever God calls us to.

As far as my DJ work goes, I’ve been putting in extra hours lately as my marketing director. It’s been challenging, but I’m determined to make a mark in the industry. However, I also believe in the importance of taking breaks and enjoying life. After all, balance is key. That’s why I’m excited to dive into my DJ gigs and let loose on the turntables. It’s my way of breaking free from the non-stop work and embracing my true passion.

So, there you have it! A little sneak peek into my world as DJ Serve. Thank you for your support, and let’s keep the party going!

I am DJ Serve and I am here to Serve YOU!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
First and foremost, embrace your passion wholeheartedly. Whether it’s music, art, or any endeavor, let your passion drive you forward. Secondly, remember the power of surrender. Sometimes, life throws unexpected challenges our way, but by surrendering control and trusting in a higher purpose, we often find new avenues for growth and service. Lastly, prioritize balance in your life. As much as dedication is important, so is taking time to recharge and enjoy the fruits of your labor. By finding harmony between work, passion, and personal life, you can cultivate fulfillment and success in all aspects of your journey.
