Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Guidera
Hi Gabriel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been an artist my entire life. I struggled with sitting through high school, so finding a career path that required a collage degree was a non starter. I spent my latter high school years in a tattoo apprenticeship that I had no right being in at 16/17. But somehow, I proved myself to be worthwhile to the elders in the industry. I am now on my 7th year of tattooing, and i’m loving every second of it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Hell no it hasn’t been a a smooth road. If life is a smooth road you’re doing something wrong, or you’re missing out on so much. This industry is incredibly cutthroat, sink or swim. But if you keep at it and push as hard as you possibly can. It will be more fruitful than you can even imagine.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started the professor.lore brand a few years back to separate my personal life from my work. To my surprise, it has blossomed into a fairly well recognized brand, at least here in Dallas. I wanted a brand name that was instantly memorable, that screamed high quality, no B.S. a brand that meant business. And professor.lore has done just that. Along side my tattoo business, delivering high end illustrative and abstract tattoos. I also sell original prints of my personal art work, clothing, swimsuits, and household items like bags and phone cases.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I am a big fan of psychology, anthropology, and religious history. And listen to many audio books and podcasts on those subject’s daily. However my bread and butter, creme del le creme, ride or die, is stand up comedy. I listen to lots of kill Tony, bad friends, Matt and Shane’s secret podcast. Humor is the best medicine and making fun of all of life’s tragedies makes it seem not as bad.
