Exploring Life & Business with Jennifer Duggan of Joy of Work Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Duggan

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve worked in Human Resources or Talent Acquistion in some capacity for the last 15 years, so coaching has naturally been part of my job function for as long as I can remember. I started Career Coaching independently for Career Contessa during the pandemic as an outlet to connect with others while working from home. The job market changed dramatically during that time, and I continued to find that people didn’t know what to do next with their lives AND careers and needed guidance. Since then, that has evolved greatly into Joy of Work where I work with people on career pivots, re-entering the job force or making career progression in a way that makes sense for them. My practice focuses alot on the harmony between life and work, and really focuses on career joy — specifically in ways that may differ from person to person.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been pretty easy — because I’m doing what I love. Having been an HR leader for so long, I find that I look at careers differently than most people, and I see talents in people, opportunities for them or pitfalls that they may not see because I’m looking at it from a different lens. Also, with the talent acquisition background, I know what employers are looking for, how hiring works, or doesn’t work in some cases — and I keep my eye on the job market. If anything has been difficult, it’s that — because the job market is constantly changing and the way people need to manuever to even get viable job leads and calls back for interviews has changed so much.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
