Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Jones

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Denise Jones is a supermodel, dancer, choreographer, teacher, and motivational speaker. Ms. Jones is a proud graduate of Hampton University, where she holds a degree in Business Administration. Her journey to success hasn’t been the simplest flight but it has been a rewarding one. Ms. Jones’ life experiences have charged her commitment to teaching, encouraging, and inspiring, young people struggling with their confidence to embrace their full authentic selves through her art. She believes we have all been given special gifts that were meant to be shared with the world. Oftentimes she believes people don’t have the confidence needed to share their gifts. A story she knows all too well due to her own personal struggles standing confidently in her true self.
As a woman who was born with what the world looks at as a disability, her life has acquired a unique set of challenges. Most medical professionals identify her condition as a congenital birth defect, but Denise believes it’s her superpower. It took years of self-love and discovery for her to come to that conclusion. Today, she actively uses her superpower to inspire others through her gift of dancing, modeling, and storytelling.
Through her modeling, she challenges the industry norms. Her work continues to disrupt the beauty industry and push for inclusivity within the modeling world. She has been featured on the Today Show, Good Morning Texas, Access Hollywood, an Essence Fest model with Shop J. Bolin, print ads in Mind Blowing Magazine, and the face of numerous Shop. J Bolin and Andmade campaigns. As a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator she inspires her students to be transformative artists who are fearless in their flight to evoke positive change in the world. Denise is the current technical coach for Diva Dance Productions, an all-star grand champion competition team, and dance educator who collaborates with the The Black Academy of Arts and Letters. The art of Dance and the beautiful movements that are created are powerful. Denise believes when these movements are used at the right time and place it has the power to make immeasurable change. Ms. Jones has used her voice as a speaker to share her life story of resilience and determination in hope of motivating others to never give up and believe in themselves. Many times those opportunities to speak have taken place in a classroom, others have been in front of 40,000 people at the Woman Evolve conference. Big or small she believes the opportunity to make an impact is a priceless feat.
Overall, Denise strives through her work to inspire people to truly learn to embrace the things that challenge them. Her prayer is that through her life you see the essence and evidence of hope, so you too can keep the faith to achieve great things. Denise believes your differences are what makes you powerful and using that power will change the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

She spent years hiding her uniqueness out of fear of rejection from peers and the world as a whole. When she learned that is truly better to be comfortable in the skin you’re in and understand who Gods says you are, only then did it became easier to let go of the desire to be accepted. The goal was now simply to be the best that she could be. Denise believes that when you embrace and overcome the things that may challenge you, that new triumph becomes your superpower. Denise professional experiences proves that being yourself opens the doors that meant to open for you. Today, she actively uses her superpower to inspire others through her gift of dancing, modeling, and storytelling.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You are enough just the way you are. Embracing the things that challenge you is the best way to move forward and the best way to show up authentically you.
