Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiesha Washington
Hi Tiesha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello and thank you for this opportunity to share my story. I go by the name Tiesha Capri. Tiesha is my first name and Capri is my middle. I want to take a trip down memory lane to discuss a season in my life where I had to “unstuck” myself.
Sometimes, we can feel stuck in a certain place or situation, which can steal our peace and happiness. I was living in North Carolina for 8 years and was starting to feel stagnant in my career and personal growth. I knew I was called for more but for some reason my life wasn’t a reflection of what was on the inside of me and what I desired. I felt out of place in North Carolina, and I knew my season there had come to an end. I was only making a small income as a legal assistant.
I am the oldest sibling of three, raised in a single-parent home in southeast Washington, DC. Despite the challenges, I became the first generation of college graduates in my family. After college I stayed in North Carolina but later realized that I wasn’t in the right place for growth. Determined to make a change, I embraced the importance of positioning myself in the right environment. I took a leap of faith and embarked on a journey towards new opportunities, knowing that success is not just about hard work but also about being in the right place.
In 2017, I had visited Dallas TX for a Megafest conference. It was then that I made an announcement on Facebook that I was moving from North Carolina to Dallas, Texas. After all, it had been a dream of mine. I didn’t have any friends or family in Texas. But I had a strong desire that I couldn’t ignore or shake. It was just a knowing. And sometimes trying to find the words to describe that “knowing” can be difficult.
But despite the announcement, I found myself stuck in North Carolina for three more years. It was during this time that I realized God just wasn’t going to magically move me across state lines. I had to use the gifts that He had given me to make it happen.
Fast forward in 2019. I made the bold decision to take a leap of faith and make the move. It was now or never. I faced obstacles along the way. I had just signed a new apartment lease, I didn’t have a job or any family or friends in Dallas, and yet, deep down, I knew I was meant to be there and I refused to live a life of regrets and wonder what could have been.
Once I made the decision to relocate, there was no turning back. I was determined to make it happen, even if it meant moving while feeling afraid. Every step I took was an act of faith. I sold all my furniture on Craigslist and OfferUp, and when my apartment leasing company refused to let me sublet, I had to find someone willing to sign a new lease for four months and accept the apartment “as it is”. It seemed impossible, but again I was determined.
Just when I thought I was out of options, a recent college graduate came along. She was able to convince her dad to co-sign the lease. In just two weeks, all my furniture was gone, and I had two weeks left to pack up my personal belongings for the new tenant.
I still had no job or home in Texas. But I walk by faith not by sight.
One day, I was on the phone with best friend in North Carolina and I shared my decision to relocate. I was going to search for a temporary living/roommate situation but she offered me a stay with her for a month during my transition. I knew it was God’s plan for me to move because despite the obstacles, everything was lining up perfectly. Next, I put in PTO at my job to focus on finding a job because searching for jobs is a job in itself. I hired a third-party company to update my resume and LinkedIn page, and I purchased LinkedIn Premium to open doors to connect with recruiters and apply for countless job opportunities.
To my surprise, within just a week and a half, I received five promising job interviews in Dallas, Texas. Things were falling into place quickly, and my mind was blown away. I remember going shopping at Ann Taylor to purchase a black suit and then booking my flight. I had interviews lined up back-to-back over the span of two days.
There was one company that stood out to me the most. I interviewed on Thursday, and they called me on Saturday and offered me the job. I was even able to negotiate a salary double what I was making in North Carolina. I put in my two weeks’ notice at my job in North Carolina and prepared for my move to Dallas.
I found a free online apartment locator company (smart city) to assist me in finding a place in Dallas, and I loved it.
On Thanksgiving Day, I packed up my car and embarked on an 18-hour journey to Texas. Finally, I arrived in Dallas, started my new job, and settled into my new home. Since then, my life has been filled with countless blessings. I firmly believe in the existence and love of God. I have witnessed miracles along my journey, and I am grateful for His continuous blessings. Sharing my story is not just a way to express my gratitude, but also to acknowledge that it is not solely my efforts that have brought me to where I am today.
My journey is a testament to the power of faith, gratitude, and determination. And I would be a fool not to give God the credit. Remember, your dreams can become a reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road and I have had many struggles and challenges faced. That is why I don’t understand how people can get jealous of someone when they don’t know their struggle.
Feeling stuck in a stagnant life and career was a struggle. Then signing a new apartment lease in North Carolina, made it difficult to relocate.
Plus not having a job, family, or friends in Dallas was another challenge and the list could go on and on.
Despite these challenges, my faith, determination, and gratitude played a significant role in overcoming them and achieving my dreams.
Once I settled in Dallas everything was PERFECT. Life became the dream I once imagined. And then a 6months later.. the unthinkable happened…. Covid 19

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in good luck or bad luck. Instead, I rely on hard work, intentionality, and God’s divine plan.
When it comes to achieving success, I firmly believe that hard work is the key. I understand that success doesn’t come easily and requires dedication, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. I believe in putting in the necessary effort and going the extra mile to reach my goals. I don’t leave things up to chance or luck; I take control of my own destiny through hard work.
Intentionality is also a crucial aspect of my approach. I believe in being deliberate and purposeful in my actions and decisions. Furthermore, I have faith in God’s divine plan for my life. I believe that there is a higher power guiding my path and that everything happens for a reason. This belief gives me a sense of peace and purpose, knowing that my life and business are part of a greater plan. It allows me to trust in the process and embrace both the challenges and blessings that come my way.
In addition, I strongly believe in the concept of cause and effect. I understand that every action has a reaction and that the choices I make have consequences. I take responsibility for my actions and the outcomes they produce. I don’t attribute my successes or failures to luck; instead, I recognize that they are a direct result of the efforts and choices I have made.
Overall, my belief in hard work, intentionality, God’s divine plan, and cause and effect shapes my approach to life and business. It empowers me to take control of my own destiny, make informed decisions, and navigate challenges with resilience and purpose.
