Daily Inspiration: Meet Hattie Meyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hattie Meyers

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up dancing and always loved being active and conquering challenging workouts and body movements. I took my first pilates class in college and immediately noticed the similarities between the low impact movements and strength conditioning that I practiced from dancing, and immediately fell in love! After graduation, I tried almost every pilates studio in Dallas and took group classes almost daily. I always had an interest in teaching fitness but never had time to devote studying/preparing etc. until the pandemic. A pilates studio I had been going to for years was hosting instructor auditions, and while I was working from home in the pandemic, I thought “no time like the present”! I taught group pilates and HIIT classes for almost three years, but it wasn’t until I started training one-on-one with where I noticed more definition and tone in my body. I discovered an instructor in LA on social media and started her workouts during the shut down in 2020 and she taught me tools while practicing pilates that I had never experienced in a group class nor even taught in a class. Personal workouts for me were more intense, challenging and engaging, and it was something that I couldn’t find in Dallas. I wanted a place with a smaller, more intimate setting where I could really focus on my workout and movements that were right for my body. I wanted a studio that could help and challenge beginners to advanced while creating a community for my clients – that is when I decided to start Hattie’s Pilates! After leaving the studio, I kept working full time job as a legal recruiter and built a private studio out of my home with easy come and go access for clients. I purchased a reformer that I had not seen at other Dallas studios and enrolled in several certification courses to expand my knowledge in the pilates method, body movements and anatomy to prepare for my official studio launch in summer 2024. It is a true pinch me moment every time someone reaches out to schedule a session because I love sharing my passion for pilates and bringing a comfortable and serene atmosphere for clients to come and workout. I am just getting started with Hattie’s Pilates and I have so many ideas and dreams for my brand in the future and I truly give God all the glory that I get to do this every day. Also – I always forget to mention my love for pink! I have always been a pink girl and it truly brings me joy so I of course had to incorporate it into my brand/logo for a feminine/luxurious feel.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have always juggled teaching fitness with my full-time recruiting job but it has been extra hard with my own business as it is much harder to have boundaries with my own schedule. One of the challenges is making time for my own workouts which is where I come up with ideas and build routines for my clients. It’s a challenge to find the time to allow for creativity, build my online presence while I prepare for my website launch and keep the creative juices flowing…there are truly not enough hours in the day!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started my career in wedding planning right out of college, and then moved on to legal recruiting from there. Both jobs involve a lot of structure, planning, and organization but also creativity while drumming up new ideas for events, activities and entertainment. I am always keeping up with the new trends, hot spots and areas around Dallas to keep things interesting for entertainment and I think that has overflowed into my pilates business as I have been around the “fitness studio” block which helps me to set goals and strategies for my own studio and growth plan. Pilates is a personal passion of mine and I love that it is always challenging and no workout is the same. When I am challenging myself and keeping myself motivated, it helps me to stay on track and motivated to serving my clients and providing the best workout experience for them.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I grew up in Dallas and ventured out of state to Ole Miss for college. I love traveling and exploring new cities but Dallas is home and checks the right boxes. I love that Dallas is a big city with smaller community feel. The neighborhoods and areas of Dallas are all so unique and have their own special character. I always planned to move back to Dallas after college and I never want to leave! One thing I wish about Dallas is that it was more of a walking city – sometimes it would be nice to travel on foot to different areas around town!
