Meet Lexi Dennis of Lexi Dennis Styling in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Dennis.

Lexi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always knew that I wanted to be a stylist – in high school, I would put together outfits for friends! I helped everyone pick out their dresses and accessories for prom even though, I wasn’t going. During college, I interned in the Costume Department of a film and got the opportunity afterwards to work on 3 more films and television shows over the next few years with the same production company. After a whirlwind of styling on movie sets in New York City and Los Angeles, I decided to move back to Dallas and get back to my personal stylist/shopper roots. With the support of my friends and family (and lots of hard work!), I officially started by business in 2016. It took a couple of years to grow my client base but now, I work full time with the most fabulous ladies in Dallas!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been easy – but it’s definitely been worth it! One of the biggest struggles along the way has been the non-creative part of my business. The accounting and paperwork side of things is something you don’t think about as a stylist but it’s obviously plays a big part in owning your own company. I’m lucky to have had a great mentor and team around me as I’ve grown into my role as not only a stylist but also a CEO.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
As a personal stylist and shopper – every day and every client is different, which keeps things exciting! I specialize in working with powerful, busy women. I am really passionate about simplifying my client’s lives while helping them feel fabulous at the same time! I style from their own closets so, I plan out their outfits for the week according to their schedules – it’s one less thing for them to think about everyday. It’s super fun and rewarding to take an item that they never wear and style it in a whole new way that they love. What I’m most known for and proud of, is the packing part of my business. I have some clients that all I do for them is pack them for trips. They provide their itinerary and I pull outfits from their closets, take photos of those outfits and actually pack their suitcase. They have exactly what they need and don’t stress about what to pack or pack too much — stress free jet setting!

What were you like growing up?
I was definitely always the fashionista. Even as a toddler, I remember having Keds tennis shoes and hair bows in a million colors to match all my outfits. When my parents would complain that I loved to shop too much in high school, I would always remind them that they created this monster! My childhood friends and family still tease me all the time by laughing at how I turned my love for shopping all the time into a career. The show Gossip Girl actually inspired me to become a stylist when I saw a behind the scenes video of their costume department. I was 16 and ever since then, I was driven to make styling more than just a hobby. At the time, a Fashion Stylist wasn’t really a job that anyone in middle America had heard of so, it was a crazy idea to most people but I always knew, it was for me.
